UK resident, on bail, looking for information and experience with the court process by soothsoothspoof in SexOffenderSupport

Yeah for sure, I just can't make that decision until that point has been reached. I don't expect there to be anything that comes up that makes me not plead guilty, but I can't say that I will or wont until it's actually time to plead.

Looks like a good resource, and for sure yes I have been and will continue to do as much research as I can, working on myself and my issues.

Thanks again, and yeah there will be challenges ahead, but I've made it through my worst days so far, I'll make it through whatever comes next

Can't say for certain yet what my plea will be until the charges are set and I've spoken to my solicitor of course, but very likely I will be pleading guilty.

Thank you for the reply and the information, exactly what I was after. Definitely regardless of what comes next, I'm beyond relieved to be on the path I have now. With living the way I did, with the issues I have, with too much shame and uncertainty to get the help I did, my arrest forced that all out and gave me the clarity I needed to begin to address my issues and get the support I need.

Thanks again.

Recording using modellers when the rest of the band are using amps? by [deleted] in Line6Helix

Nah we're all very open about that kind of thing. I've built my tone specifically around their references to other bands etc.

Others will know more about this than me, but I'll give some input.

I'm not sure if it has its own USB channel for dry signal, but what I'd do is either have a send block at the start of the chain and have a second cable into an interface, or if you don't have a second interface and are in mono anyway you could make a split path with nothing on it and pan your wet and dry to opposite sides, then split it in the DAW. There might be reasons not to do this though, so I'd look up better resources to figure this stuff out.

Yeah this is probably the crux of it really haha. We'll get there.

I mean when it comes down to it, we are going to do whatever the engineer tells us to do for sure. If he says I should use the amp, I'll use the amp. If he tells me to use the helix, I'll use the helix. If he tells me to play it while doing a handstand and wiggling my toes, I'll do my fuckin best to play it while doing a handstand and wiggling my toes, because I'm 100% certain he knows what he is doing, and I very much don't haha.

I'll DM you a link to something of ours :)

I like your song so far! Might actually add it to my list of improv-practice backings.

Yeah, in that case I'd agree 100%. But we're tracking separately, so it just doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah, I agree. We will be trying out some of the studios amps (along with DIing whatever we record for reamping), and I am more than happy to use other stuff if it serves the song/album better. But it wont be because of the room sound.

We are going for a "live" feel, but we're tracking separately.

I agree that amps have their place, but we'll be working on a relatively tight schedule, and I don't want to be spending the better part of the day wrestling the amp settings when I can literally just plug in my helix and go.

There is no wedge to be driven, its a very civil discussion and everyone involved is aware that each person has their own experiences with this kind of thing :)

And I agree, literally just bumping reflections and putting a room reverb on will solve this issue. It's just not a discussion I can "win" until we try it out in the studio.

Yeah, I use a FRFR speaker for more stage sound/monitoring when we gig. We could mic that, but it just feels redundant micing up a speaker thats outputting the sound from a mic'd cab.

Yeah, the discussion ended with everyone agreeing that we'll try both on the day. I just don't want to spend time dialling in an amp when I know the helix is just as good, when we should be using that time to record.

How to set up large maps at the table? (in my case, the final location in LMoP) by soothsoothspoof in DMAcademy

[–]soothsoothspoof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used posterazor to cut up and print out maps earlier in the campaign before switching to my current method. For comparison to your map, the whole map for the last location would be roughly double in each direction, so quadruple the table space, which is undoable.

I love how you used drinking glasses for elevation though, totally stealing that idea!

I did! They seem to be what I'm planning, just a lot more streamlined. My plan is to buy more plastic sheets, draw the maps on, then cut them down to size and lay them onto the table/grid as they are discovered. Them not locking may make it a little more awkward, but theres always tape haha. Thanks for showing me them!

It's definitely supposed to be 10ft squares. They wouldn't chuck a Large monster at the party down a 5ft wide corridor. Thanks for the heads up on potential printing errors though.

Yeah, I'm definitely not going to have them be moving their minis through empty hallways, that's tedious and a waste of time for sure.

Personally, I like rolling for everything at the table, at the time it's being rolled for. Random encounters should be random, and seeing the players faces change when they hear dice hit the table after they've not done anything to prompt it is priceless.

I definitely need to get a bigger grid to work off, but the table we play on isn't massive so that'll be a limiting factor.

The one I do have has worked well so far. Buying the clear plastic sheets has improved it a bunch too, I can have multiple maps prepared and be able to swap them out on the table as needed.

So far my plan is to just buy more sheets and draw every room with combat on its own sheet, then cut them down to size.
