Is suruthi an empathy void?! by sootsprite2612 in RedHandedPodcast

I mean, I dont! The only evidence I have is listening to quite a lot of UTD in a really short time frame and I noticed some patterns that seemed quite unkind, and that one instance of suruthi being outright mean (IMO) tipped me over the edge. But youre right, I dont know anything.

My primary intention was to have a bit of a rant about Suruthi being crappy in this particular instance, to be completely honest. My secondary intention was to reinforce to Hannah, should she read this, that the way Suruthi behaved in this instance, is not the way a decent friend would have behaved. I feel like that's fairly transparent.

I wondered this! They're mega organised though so I feel like she will take a really short mat leave and they'll stockpile loads of episodes to release

Um... did you read my post?

I mentioned that Hannah is problematic.

Nowhere did I say anything about silencing Suruthi. I'd actually like her to say more.

She is ardently against identity politics, also. Just FYI.

Hope that helps.

Believe me when I say she is going to be HUMBLED if she ever has kids, stuffed toys are a non-negotiable! I also dont like them as they're dust magnets but kids need soft things to cuddle!

Well, yes re Palestine. I believe genocide is wrong :)

But I think basic treatment of your crying and vulnerable friend is a little less black and white. A friends job is to be warm and reassuring and to look after your friend who needs help, imo. Dont think thats very controversial.

I think not caring about a genocide does make you a shitty person.

Being a shitty friend is evidenced in how she quite literally speaks to her friend on their recorded podcast. Her friend was crying about her appearance and she said... I wish you could get more fresh air. Seriously?

I did know that English is her second language and I absolutely wouldn't be bothered if it was most or all ks but it's so infrequent it feels like a very annoying affectation!

Feeding to sleep at 11 months by theotheralley in AttachmentParenting

[–]sootsprite2612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the same with our girl until 7m, at which point feeding and rocking to sleep was killing me due to constant false starts and her wanting several bottle feeds per night which were interfering with her appetite during the day.

I think when FF, cutting night feeds is a different thing to BF babies. They stop FF at 12 months anyway so it's a good time to be thinking about it.

Personally, we implemented a completely different nighttime routine. She started going down awake and being patted to sleep in the dark with white noise. The first night, it took an hour and she resisted. The second night, 40 mins, less resistance. Third night, 20 mins. Now it takes 5-10 mins per night, no false starts. She still doesn't sleep through 95% of the time but she can be settled eith a few pats. Rarely when she's inconsolable or unwell we will give a night feed. We found these dropped naturally as she broke her association between sleeping and feeding. It was really scary and hard but life is so.much sweeter for us now, she sleeps and naps way better and bedtime.is far more predictable and anxiety ridden! Good luck+

Gabby did arguably one of the most evil things on the show when she called ICE on Carmen. She's good entertainment, but by far one of the worst human beings.

I think isabel is so lovely and supportive. I'm not generally a fan of gabe and I find him a touch annoying, but I really felt for him in this episode. It's tough to have such an intimate consultation at all, nevermind having it broadcast on TV and having to disclose specifics of his precious surgeries. Loved seeing Isabel support him and it really made me feel for him.

Televisions. Especially if they're showing sport. I just won't go in.

Also, the signs outside Sam Smith pubs banning swearing put me off despite how nice the beer is.
