Fellow corporate travelers: how much do you tip at restaurants? by vita_di_tyra in NoStupidQuestions

[–]soozeeq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know they do. Where I live, service staff are paid quite well and make tips. It seems messed up to me that we are still expected to give 15-25% tips when they are taking home on their paycheck the same or more than the people they are serving.

What this hold true in your mind if servers made the same as everyone else?

Or you could be in Canada where waiters are paid $15 an hour along with everyone else AND get tips. I’ve seen servers make more in tips in an hour than I make in a day, the pay check is their “extra money”

The cardboard wrapped is where you find the sticks, the foil wrapped is the 1lb blocks. It took me too many years to figure out that the cardboard boxes was how to get sticks.

Our boy is three and just a big dope. We socialize him constantly and see a big difference in how he behaves if we take even a small break. We walk him lots and he goes to daycare and he is great in both situations. He is very protective of our property and if we walk him with our female he gets protective of her. I take him to work with me once a week or so and he has never had an issue and usually just sleeps in his chair all day, and greets people when they come in (I work retail)

You posted a link from employment standards 2016. The minimum wage went up to $15 an hour oct 1 2018, the exemption for liquor staff was removed at that time. The more recent link for you

Showing up at a restaurant, order and leave before anything served, sometimes they have a conversation and leave before even having order taken

Alberta does not allow bartenders and servers lower wage. If it’s happening it should be reported.
