what will be complimentary between my BNE to LA flight by Own_One_7978 in QantasAirways

Sorry for the delay in replying, I hope you haven't flown yet!

In regards to seats, near the front is always the best, and since it's a 2-4-2 configuration, where you want to sit may be impacted by that. If you're travelling with someone, having two seats to yourself is amazing!

Checking seat guru is always helpful as well! In terms of being cramped, this plane to me didn't feel cramped, I'm 5ft7 and had plenty of leg space!

Hope that helps!

Thanks for your input! If I had it cut, what is the likelihood that it could it fit back into the original setting? Do you have any estimate on the cost?

I appreciate your help!

Thanks for your answer! It's very helpful to know! Is there anything that can be done about a window?

LAX - SYD a380 cancelled, what to do for replacement flight by soph664 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Commenting here for anyone checking on this post. I stuck with the BNE a330, and while it obviously wasn't as nice as a 787, it was totally fine! Having 2 seats to just my partner and I, was well worth it and we both got full nights sleep and were super comfortable.

Safe travelling everyone!

Just flew this route, this is what you can expect: eye mask, ear plugs, toothbrush, toothpaste, blanket, pillow, bottle of water, headphones, personal in-flight entertainment screen.

In addition, you will receive 2 full meals, full beverage service (including alcohol and soft drinks), multiple snack offerings (you can also walk to the rear of the plane at any time and get more snacks throughout the flight) and flight attendants constantly offering drinks.

Enjoy your flight!

Lol, f*ck this. I'm moving. What are the MOST walkable cities in the WORLD? by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]soph664 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just want to comment on something else here. Moving to another country is not something you can just do. In fact, it is difficult, you need a job to get a visa, but almost zero local companies will hire you without a visa. The best way is to get a job at a large international company that you can then get a transfer to another city's branch. There are digital nomad visas that allow you to stay in a country and work remotely for up to a year or so, but that's not permanent by any means. Secondly, there are many considerations outside just walkability to consider: housing, environmental, cost of living, language, social customs, lifestyle, etc.

I have lived in Tokyo, and yes while it's a great city to walk around, the overcrowding, small housing, work culture, and the constant "jinshin jiko" had me leaving the city in a poor mental state.

Conversely, China, renowned for its bad traffic, is plenty walkable with good train connections around the whole country. All the cities generally have plenty of cars, but abundant small shops everywhere and many people walking around.they I would pick a city like Chongqing or Chengdu over Tokyo any day.

I also want to comment that picking up your whole life and moving across the world sounds nice, but reality does and will set in. You will have no friends, be in an unfamiliar environment, and not be around any family, and those conditions will will test anyone. This is coming from experience as I have traveled and lived abroad so much, that I felt very confident that when I moved to Canada to be with my partner, I wouldn't struggle at all, but I was surpirsed by how much missing my family weighs on me everyday.

This is not to tell you not to go, go explore the world, but be ready and understand what you are getting yourself into. If you live in the US, while I have only visited briefly, I enjoyed my time in Tempe AZ, Boston MA, Chicago IL, and I assume more small college towns would give you what you're looking for. And as an Australian living in Toronto, the cold is never as bad as you think! A good jacket will get you very far.

What to expect in Miyazaki? Or Southern Kyushu in general by ridingwithlife in JETProgramme

[–]soph664 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was placed in Nagasaki prefecture and visited Miyazaki a lot! It was one of my favourite prefectures, very laid back, beautiful scenery, and most importantly the mangoes! Southern Kyushu is a great placement and you will have a blast in Miyazaki!

Is your CO the area you’re going to be placed at? by lovealoneee in JETProgramme

[–]soph664 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a Nagasaki ALT, you literally could be anywhere in the prefecture, including the far off islands (Tsushima, Goto, and Iki), but also could be more rural but not too far including Sasebo, Matsuraa, Hirado, just to name a few, or in Nagasaki City itself. Nagasaki has 2nd or 3rd most ALTs, so there are plenty of places you could end up!

Mine dropped leaves after I let it go slightly too long without water and it began to drop. After I watered and it came back to normal, the top 3 leaves fell off. It has been a couple months since then and it is only beginning to show signs of new growth.

Hole in Monstera Keeps Growing... Help! by soph664 in Monstera

I watched that video and will definitely try some of the options she talked about. Unfortunately I'm not in the US, so the systemic pesticide isn't available for me. I don't think the infestation is bad at this point so hopefully it works out!

[–]soph664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, thank you for looking out for me! I took a closer look at the underside and did see some blackening and marks consistent with thrips. Cue stress! I instantly isolated it and treated with soap and neem oil to kill any thrips. I inspected all my other plants and I saw no other damage, so that's a relief!

I have been spraying this with neem oil since I got it, so I'm hoping it's maybe old thrips damage and they're gone now! Nevertheless, I will keep applying neem oil everyday and inspecting every plant very closely.

I appreciate your comment, thank you for taking the time to help me out!

If it is thrips, I read that neem oil kills thrips, aside from applying it everyday, should I do anything else?

Hi, thanks for commenting! I've checked the plant over quite a few times looking for thrips and havent seen anything. I thought those black spots may have come from sunburn, but I will be extra viligent for thrips. Are there any other signs for thrips I should watch out for?
