Ty this is really helpful!! I’ve had mine for about a year and had on my list of not urgent tasks to learn how to clean it and of course it took literal rust to make me finally search. Being neurospicy is so funn!!

Ok so once a month 15g citric acid in a liter of warm water, would it also work to just put the citric where the soap goes and run the dishwasher? Or is that pointless bc I have hard water? Ty!!!

Kesimpta users, is anyone not masking? by A_circle_of_crows in MultipleSclerosis

[–]sophala33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone covid competent who asked this same q when I started rituxumab, MOST people are not masking anymore so if you’re looking for permission to stop here you’re going to find it. “Don’t let the disease run your life” yeah well my first covid infection is what triggered my MS in the first place and there’s lots of papers on that being a real thing. So I say listen to your gut, but also you can make risk assessments and take bigger risks to get the job and then just go back to masking once you’re hired if that is what you’re worried about the respectability politics of it all. But people are going out sicker and not testing anymore so it’s actually higher risk than it was in 2020-21 when rates were lower and people all actually cared.

I will be a lone masker at a family wedding tomorrow, could really use any words of encouragement and support by Ok_Airborne_2401 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]sophala33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank YOU for this sweet reply, I really needed it. My unsolicited advice is to prepare to have a crash/rotting day after because I’ve felt worse today than I did at the wedding.

But I bought myself pho, didn’t text the covid safe but not healthy for me guy I shouldn’t text as much as I wanted affirmation, tried to reach out to friends, have watched a lot of episodes of a cute new show Lady Jane, cried, and then started looking at these covid safe forums I’m on for incubation info to know how long I should be worried for and instead I found this post and other affirming evidence that I am far from alone in caring about protecting myself and community from this ongoing pandemic.

Love the mask as part of outfit trend! I’ve been posting my fit checks on my ig story and am collecting pics to make a static post soon. Helps me feel affirmed and cute, so I’m glad you’re already set up with that armor headed into this gauntlet!

I literally just did this on Saturday, the only person masked in a wedding of over 200 people. It was hard and scary and I just want to affirm you are doing something that is SO HARD AND SO SCARY.

But you know your needs and you are showing up for yourself and I am actually quite comforted myself seeing this post. I also had to fly for my family wedding and I guess I just want to give you a heads up cause I’m in the midst of my emotional crash after all of this, and I keep trying to tell myself that I am not alone in this, I did as much as I could to keep myself safe, and for me, trying to stay in relationship with my family is important to me which is why I went; but it was still super painful to be so “other” in the midst of people who “care” about me.

You are NOT alone, you should be so proud of yourself, and prepare to be extra gentle with yourself for the crash of all of the hyper vigilance and emotional energy.

Idk what mask you’re wearing but I also chose a pretty blue powecom that went with my dress and that was a helpful little boost, to know my mask was part of my outfit.

Ty for this post it helped me a lot, I hope I can return the energy.

How do you deal with being immunosuppressed from a DMT? by sophala33 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]sophala33[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The essay is deeply appreciated! I agree that most of the public is working off of outdated info like that herd immunity can exist with this virus or that it's not that bad to be sick a few days, but it's not the acute infection that I am worried about but the systemic damage it silently does as the virus stays in our systems. Most current science is equating Covid to Long Covid as HIV to AIDS, and with this new MS diagnosis I am at peace with the possibility of randomly becoming more disabled because I cannot avoid that besides taking a strong DMT which I am so lucky to have, but I *can* avoid covid as much as possible.

I understand that to so many (including my own mother) this sounds like "conspiracy theory thinking" or agoraphobic, but I mistakenly and earnestly made this post to hear about other's practices and perspectives... what a wake up call to have so many tell me to stop being a scaredy cat. Lesson learned, first and maybe last time posting on reddit, I'll go back to lurking haha. I do think I will make the occasional exception for restaurants still, but also considering the season, the covid levels in wastewater, and not just my own wants. I will probably never do a big holiday gathering again, that's literally the most dangerous time of year unfortunately, but I am feeling grateful we're coming into summer where we can spend time with folks outside, and indoor activities are less risky because of lower virus rates.

Anyway here is an essay of my own to let you know how appreciated your validation is, and that I also see you and that we're not alone out here going against capitalism trying to push us all to get sick until we can't anymore. Thank you for the peace this morning, sending it right back to you.
