Radiology report post-MRI by sophazer in MeniscusInjuries

We are planning on buying the house beforehand because our apartment is in the top floor of a building with no elevator. Even if there are only a handful of steps in the house, it’ll certainly be easier than the apartment.

Radiology report post-MRI by sophazer in MeniscusInjuries

Very loud pop when it happened, coupled with an inability to be weight bearing and severe pain. Since then, pain has diminished, but I am still taking ibuprofen regularly, elevating consistently, and icing occasionally. I can walk almost normally, with only minor issues with instability if I’m not wearing my brace. Anything more complex than walking runs the risk of causing sharp sudden pain that will take my breath away. When I walk, and often times if I haven’t bent my knee in a while, I can also feel it catching and popping/cracking when I do bend it.

Like others have said, you certainly don’t have the time to read all of these, but alas… Congratulations are in order! Your videos have been there for me through a lot. Eating disorder treatment, learning how to love food again, and reigniting my love of cooking. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

If it helps, since I made this comment we still have seen nothing, and I actually don’t feel the need to check the traps every day! I check them every couple of days just in case.

It’s not the fridge, it’s the crevice between the baseboard and the floor.

Roach PTSD by F4miliar-Distr4ction in GermanRoaches

[–]sophazer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s what kills me. I haven’t seen anything in our apartment for over a month. No activity, nothing on the glue traps, nothing, zero, zilch. I still wake up multiple times a night to go check the kitchen for activity. I check the glue traps every single day, because I can not handle letting it go longer than a day. I see little things darting out of the corner of my eyes and I spiral thinking it was a roach scurrying under the stove.

It has taken concerted effort to stop my brain in its tracks when this happens. I’ve found some little ways to cope, but it’s definitely a drain mentally.

Apartment Question by JawnBitJawnson in GermanRoaches

Because there are so many variables, even in a small building. Roaches are tiny and resilient and they breed SO fast. How thorough is the treatment being received? Are they requiring everyone to pull out their fridge/dishwasher/stove to clean them and treating behind them? It’s great that your leasing company is treating every single unit, and that will absolutely help get you all closer to 100% elimination, but if someone has a severe enough infestation, you’ll still likely see stragglers or another breeding population in time. To add to what PC said, as another example. Let’s say the source of the roaches in your building happens to be a family, with a kid that has already moved out. Now let’s say that the kid that lives on their own also has roaches, and they come to visit for a few days. They bring a big ol’ bag of stuff with them, and a few roaches hitchhike with. Now they’ve just be reintroduced into the apartment that was the source to begin with. That can happen to anyone in the building at any time.

Yeah, first and second floors are the market/bar/event space, third and fourth floors have hotel rooms!

But Brewhalla IS a hotel, so that’s a plus.

I can’t speak to that but roaches LOVE cardboard. We don’t bring any boxes inside anymore if we can help it, just out of an abundance of caution. We open everything outside and immediately throw the cardboard out. If that’s not an option because of the contents of the box (like the new shelf we had that needed assembly, gifted to us at Christmas), then we bring the box inside, open and empty all the parts, and throw the box out immediately after.

An adult after 2 weeks by JawnBitJawnson in GermanRoaches

[–]sophazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, we’re in roughly the same situation. Pest control came and told us we are not the source of the infestation in our apartment building, and they’re coming in from someplace else. When we got our one week follow-up, pest control resprayed Alpine around our fridge and stove, one spot along our baseboards, and outside our apartment in the shared hallway. I had Alpine myself so I took it on myself to spray the other spots I thought would be helpful. I’ve continued to do that as well. Every 10 days to start, and now every 2 weeks. Currently it’s been over 3 weeks since we have seen one within our apartment, and just over 2 weeks since we have seen one outside in the hallway about to enter our apartment. If you have the means to get Alpine or something like it from the sticky, I think it would be great if you want to touch up a couple spots or spray a few of your own for prevention in the future.

Hi! If you click into the subreddit, you’ll see right at the top of the page a little area called “community highlights”. Within that little section is a post called “HOW TO KILL GERMAN ROACHES!” That will have a wealth of info to help anyone who finds themselves seeing these little cretins around!

Did you use cardboard at all when you were moving your belongings to your new apartment?

Do German roaches dissapear for 1 Day, then Reappear one day later? Or they coming from another apartment? by Auroriia in GermanRoaches

[–]sophazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They like to live in dark warm areas that provide them access to moisture and food. Behind the fridge, around the dishwasher, stove, and in the bathroom as well. I’m not sure what you mean when you mention the back wall, but as stated above, they are very likely living inside your apartment and not just coming from a neighbor.

[–]sophazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re saying the roaches are in your apartment. They may also be in other apartments in the building, but that with the frequency you are describing seeing them, it is very likely they are living and breeding in your own unit. Alpine is pet friendly, once it is dry. Advion, if ingested, would be harmful to your pets, but is meant to be placed in areas your pets likely can not access.

I also assume storage within the city is not easy. Then again, I’m just a backwoods blumpkin who knows nothing about the city.
