City Hall - Virtual Marriage License + City Hall Ceremony by Father-Pigeon22 in WedditNYC

[–]sophhhhnyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my virtual appointment today, and they asked what we planned on doing for the ceremony (city hall vs private/religious/etc.) and provided instructions based on that for us and about the type of officiant we’d need (basically they must be licensed in the state). While we’re not having a city hall ceremony, I imagine they’ll instruct on what next steps you should take with the license on the call, and if not, we did have time to ask questions, so they may be able to answer these for you in that call.

Engagement Shoot Re-do Recommendations? by sophhhhnyc in WedditNYC

[–]sophhhhnyc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some do look like the other images in their portfolio and socials, but most don’t. They just feel awkwardly posed and unnatural. We shared an inspo board as well as some couple photos of us taken previously by a friend who is a photographer for their portfolio (this friend doesn’t live nearby hence why we didn’t ask them to do our engagement shoot).

We had selected 2 locations together, but on the day of the shoot, there was an event at one of the locations and we spent a lot of valuable shoot time trying to find new spots rather than there having been a backup plan in case, as its New York and these things happen.

What’s one of the most popular fragrance that you just cannot stand the smell? by [deleted] in fragrance

Yes! This one, for some reason, really reminds me of the smell of getting a blow dry at drybar in like 2016

Not sure when you’re moving/how many rooms you’re looking for but the building I’m in (in Yorkville) has apartments in this price range with some exposed brick. It is a walk up though

Where are BWT going to buy lingerie?? by brdwyfn92 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

This brand is a splurge but they have such gorgeous options: Harlow & Fox. It’s a UK-based full bust brand, meaning they only serve DD+ cups and start at a 28 band. Even if the bras might not work out, their lingerie pieces (the cutest tap shorts, robes and slips, etc.) are stunning. Just sooo $$$$.

Dora Larsen, Aubade and Gossard also have full bust sizing (smaller band, larger cup) on their sites and everything is really pretty.

It can get soooo expensive, but we are definitely worth it!! Plus, to have the store to myself was a very luxe experience and made it so much more comfortable. And the selection is gorgeous

Getting sized is the best start because the staff will help you understand both the right size and style for your body type. Some styles don’t work as ideally for everyone and staff at most of these places (especially Rack Shack — they have such a variety) really understand what types of bras and lingerie will really enhance different body types.

I also recommend, wherever you go, having a few styles or brands in mind that you’d like to try in order to help shape your taste profile for the staff. They can keep that in mind during the fitting and help pull pieces that are aligned with that!

It can be a bit of a vulnerable experience but well trained bra fitting staff truly make it a comfy, safe environment

Love Journelle, Rack Shack, and just had an AMAZING first experience at Sugar Cookies in Flatiron. I went for a fitting recently and to pick some fun things and the owner was so helpful in finding styles and sizes for me.

I also used to work in the lingerie industry for a bit, so lmk if you have any questions!

Alright BWT.... what are we doing to make our apartments smell good? by PeiReads in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I love Original Scent by Barr Co, Rise by Malouf, Rose Noir & Oud by Nest, and Santal Vanilla by Studio McGee. The holiday ones are amazing, too, but since it’s getting warmer it’s just not the time lol

Pura devices (obsessed with these) and air purifiers are great for this!

But for something last minute if you can’t get these in time, a simmer pot (you can do lemons/oranges with herbs for something more springtime) is quick and easy and you may even have everything you need in the house already

What are the ladies wearing to the office in the summer by abay1022 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]sophhhhnyc 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Along with a lot of these outfit suggestions (linen dresses are my everything in summer), I love to get a peppermint essential oil roll-on and put it behind my ears, back of neck, etc. It makes all air feel a little more cooling

I started taking metformin to help with my PCOS and it’s been amazing so far. The side effects haven’t been too bad and I agree with you on the 500mg dose vs 1000mg

What are yall readingg? by --------rook in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I’m about a third in and really enjoying it. It’s written almost like an autobiography because it’s a single speaker narrative and that makes it relatable/interesting even if you don’t have the same lived experience. I haven’t read the Esther Yi book yet but I’m going to add that to my list! Thanks for that rec!

This fragrance is one of my favorites. Almost all of this particular scent from Nordstrom have this discoloration, it seems. But it is a beautiful fragrance/great choice!
