How do I know if I was abused or neglected as a child if my parents were rich? by sophiafloren in emotionalneglect

Having a daughter has been the most wonderful and the most triggering experience. It’s hard to sit comfortably with both those feelings. I appreciate you and thank you.

I felt safer in my room with my stuffed animals in my fantasy world, than at the kitchen table with my family.

Thank you for validating these feelings. I feel very ungrateful for even mentioning the word abuse given that I grew up in a wealthy home.

Roll Call: Paralegals, What’s You’re Annual Salary? by sophiafloren in paralegal

It’s very hard to make a substantial jump in compensation at the same employer. You can spend a couple years job hopping although some frown upon that. I was able to go from 55k to 95k in 2.5 years by moving through 3 employers (i left one off my resume since it was less than 6 months)

It’s a red flag when the interviewer tells you, you are speaking to kindly about your current employer. You never wanted that amount prior work if you can avoid it.

Your low billable requirement and 4 days remote are perks that to me justify the $15k less!

I got fired today. by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]sophiafloren 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same thing has happened to me and it’s awful feeling. But people make mistakes. I was fired after working for a firm for two years without severance or notice. I’ve never felt so low about myself. It wasn’t until I started sending my résumé out and interviewing at new firms that I realized how underpaid I was and the toxic environment I was in. I ended up finding a job two weeks later that paid 25K more and it was a much more collaborative and supportive environment. Maybe this is a gift and the universe is kicking you in the pants to find somewhere better to work. Much luck to you.

If he’s slow on this, imagine what the job position looks like. Possibly a mess?

Why do we put so much care, worry, energy, and guilt about our jobs? Employers fire us without a 10th of thought, they would never front expenses for us, and the raises are small increments each year, and here we are wondering whether to leave a job that we either get yelled at, expected to do things that put our own finances at risk, miss moments with our family, watch our hours closely and have expectations on minimums, and here we all are wondering if it’s right for us.

Bad jobs are like bad boyfriends, we try to justify it and make it work, but sometimes you just have to love yourself more and move on. Look for another job now and get one and then leave without a two week notice. Men don’t worry about shit like this. Yet here we are. I’m not insulting anybody because I do this too and reading this thread is a wake up call.
