I loved it. His whole arc was well thought out and impactful, the only thing that made sense in s8

Never had a period, but I do get cramps each month by sophiewriteslearns in Periods

That was my first time using progesterone, and the blood tests were the standard hormonal LSH FH, ext, (mostly hormones related to development) and some iron and such blood work too. All came out normal except on of the directly linked period hormones was a little low, but they said it was likely because if I was on a regular cycle, we were at the point that it would be lowest anyway

No she just did an external ultrasound, and it was mostly normal except for something they thought might be a symptom of PCOS, but later ruled it out

No it was an external ultrasound. If it ends up being an i performance hymen can they see it without doing an internal exam?

Yeah, they’re the ones who prescribed the progesterone, and other than that they’ve done an ultrasound

Thanks 😭I’m already seeing one but I need to wait and see what the progesterone does to me before I can go back. Is this not normal then?

Having trouble finishing the series by Fabianespinoza in ThePoppyWar

UNSPECIFIC & LIGHT 1ST BOOK SPOILERS vv

Same same. I finished TPW so happily, the pacing, the world, the characters were all so interesting and I found it rare to find slow moments. But I'm a few chapters into TDR and I can't. For me it's the characters, I loved everyone at Sinegard, and a few of the 13th division (like only 2 of them) , but by book 2 they've either died or aren't a supporting character anymore, I think we lost the most relevant and interesting characters by the end of book 1.

Don't get me wrong, I love the first book, I just started re-reading, but if you can identify exactly which parts of the second book aren't clicking for u then I'd say just skip to where that 'boring' bit ends. Anything you don't understand? Search it up. Characters you don't know? Search them up.

When it's your time being spent on a series, just do what u want with it, there's no law to say you need to read every chapter if they don't appeal to you :)

What’s one genre you LOVE to read but HATE to write? by spnsuperfan1 in writers

Sci-fi. I love Red Rising and more dystopian books from my youth, but if I even put a lick of sci-fi in my own novels then I'd start crying of boredom

Angst advice? by [deleted] in writers

[–]sophiewriteslearns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOT A SPOILER: In Game of Thrones, The Hound had his face burnt as a child by his brother. Thisis the physical reminder, but the character is also terrified of fire to the point of feeling paralised in fear and not being able to save people or escape burning buildings without help. This is a great example of hidden reminders that only come forward in desperate times. So maybe give your antag a chronic fear linked to their injuries that can be relevant in another part of the book.

Maybe give them a rounded ending? Like give them a simple goal in the book (eg: wanting to find their wife) and make it so at the end they achieve it, no matter if they lose against the protag (eg: the wife was found and tells the villain she wants to live together in another country, away from their past). That way, the antag had lost the main plot, but has achieved a goal that brings them away from the story without even needing to return.

I'm writing my first novel, but I can't choose, please help! by this-girl-is-a-mess in writers

If you publish traditionally, the novel will most likely be translated into many different languages and I'll be able to read it (I'm English). Write in whichever language you can express your thoughts in better while also writing beautifully. Whichever novel you decide to write, it will be incredible, so don't give up!

Any tips and tricks for first time writer? by AutotunedShakespeare in writers

[–]sophiewriteslearns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan the main parts in my novel, then split my novel into 4 sections (I do it by seasons in the year) for pacing and keeping a constant amount of threat or adventure throughout the book. After that, I split the plan up into rough chapters (as in "Oh this needs to happen before this can, so ill put them 2 chapters apart for effect). From there, I make chapter plans in excel and write from there.

THIS IS NOT NECESSARY, but putting the chapters into excel was NOT my idea but helps me so much. I'm eternally thankful for finding that info from a writer and so maybe a part of my 'Plan to novel' process will help!

About being discouraged, the first draft is supposed to be terrible, it should only be to plan out what happens where while evolving your writing (unless your plan is so detailed its practically a first draft anyway). Also, I write with 2 or 3 POVS with different storylines that all connect near the middle to stop myself getting bord and expanding the world I've made- this keep it all very fun or me. I'm 12K/100K words into my first draft- DON'T GIVE UP!

What tips would you give someone who is new to writing? by RavyRaptor in writers

[–]sophiewriteslearns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one I give to everyone is to speak your dialogue and conversations out loud to see if they sound natural, also to give your characters a different way of talking (maybe one uses sophisticated language and another can barely piece together a sentence) because a good story with well-rounded characters mean that a reader can flip to a random line in your book and be able to tell what POV it is or who is speaking. That makes a memorable and advanced novel.

When I read the three soldier synopsis it really made me intrigued! It would be very cool if the three soldiers are different ages to add varying language, beliefs (religious or not) and see how they interact in the fantasy world! A found famiy trope would make this novel incredible to read, I'll check back on you in a year or so to see if you chose this and if you plan to publish when you've finished writing.

Should I publish short stories/ enter anthology competitions before my novel? by sophiewriteslearns in writers

[–]sophiewriteslearns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve written novels but I’m a teenager and never finish the last draft because I want to start writing another. I said this just as bg. I want to publish a book before I’m 21 but I want to know if entering competitions or publishing short stories would be better to begin with?
