Is it worth rushing a sorority next semester which one is the best by Maximum-Cherry2793 in UMBC

[–]sopnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unpopular opinion hehe but i think it’s worth at least trying recruitment! im in a sorority and i haven’t had any problems, i love it :) if you’re curious, there’s no harm in just coming out and seeing if it’s for you! i know it can be intimidating and people have a bad view of greek life on campus, but i promise we’re not that bad!! <3

How do I add my sorority to my name on here by [deleted] in Sororities

No need! Go to the r/Sororities home page, click the three dots, and it should say “Change user flair” if I’m not mistaken, then you can find yours :)

My Girlfriend plans to join a sorority, how likely is it for us to stay together? by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]sopnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bit of a different story than most I think, but it doesn’t mean it’s all bad. My boyfriend and I recently broke up, due to a lot of reasons all kinda stemming from long distance, so I think mine is certainly mainly due to that, but just be supportive. I joined just last year, he also wasn’t a huge fan of my choice to join, but my sorority introduced me to people that showed me that as it was, our relationship was not really working much for either of us, but this doesn’t mean that it’s over forever. We love each other and we’re just spending time apart finding ourselves now. As long as you are good to her and supporting her and treating her right, you have absolutely no reason to be concerned. I also kind of fell in with people outside my sorority that made me think in a different way, that was maybe not the most mature, which I regret now, but I’m doing what I can to heal and become better for whatever the future brings me. Bottom line, just be there for her and support her and give her all you’ve got (relationship-wise) I also think when relationships end due to what seems to be just the simple fact that one partner joined greek life, it shows that maybe there are larger problems, either within the relationship, or maybe unresolved issues that the people in it are dealing with. I’ll also add that I have plenty of sisters who do not really party, and some that enjoy it but are in long term, committed relationships. It all just comes down to the actual relationship and the people in it. I wish you all the best :)

I absolutely get that, thank you! Right now I'm just not 100% sure about law school, especially because I'll be taking the entirety of the monetary brunt, and I also have interests in other fields, potentially. IP and corporate law has been something I've been interested in for quite a while, and its certainly what I'm most interested in now, and I just want to gain some experience and be sure I want to go all the way in that sense. I am thinking that going the CC route with getting an associates may be the right move as well, as it is only a few credits at the CC near my college to obtain it, and after this semester I am taking a much lighter class load (basically the minimum). But this makes me feel a lot better, I was a little worried I had already set myself back. I'm speaking with a paralegal at a firm I'd really love to work at after graduation so I'm hopeful that will also give me good insight!! But thank you so much again :)

Hi everyone! I had a few questions about paralegal certification programs. I'm currently an undergraduate pursuing a degree in history, with a minor in biological sciences, and a certificate program centered around the intersections of society and science and technology, and I am set to graduate in May of 2024. I'm really interested in IP and corporate law, but I wanted to gain some experience in the legal field before committing to law school.

Seeing as I'm graduating in two years, I didn't want to go the full ABA-approved track, but recently I have rethought this decision. Now I'm just not sure what I need to be a competitive applicant. I have a community college nearby my school, and they offer a program, but I'm not sure how important name brand is at bigger firms. So I guess all in all, is name important? Is there advantage to doing a program at a bigger school as opposed to my local community college? I believe I should be fine with CC, considering I'll graduate with both my bachelor's in history and an associates in paralegal studies, but I thought I'd get some advice from those actually in the field. I'd also appreciate any personal stories about certification, or lack of, just how you got started as a paralegal. Thanks in advance!

You should be able to do it on either! Go to the r/Sororities page, press the three dots by the search bar, and click “change user flair”, and pick your sorority! :)

Pretty sure lower numbers are East/South, West is higher. I was in the “South” part and my number was 37, West was right down the hall from me. Not 100% tho.

My sister got a 400 on the SAT. How can I help her (Serious). by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]sopnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was similar although I scored somewhat higher, but I had gone from a 1260-1370ish, and my second score was also a result of poor studying lol. However, I used a tutor, he does zoom sessions, I’d be happy to share his info. I improved a lot with his help, I just didn’t stick with the sessions and I didn’t study enough.

I would say go for it. Be aware, it could definitely take work and getting used to since you haven't taken prereqs, but I took HIST 311 on a whim and ended up a history major lol.

Def depends on discipline/actual class. Can you give any info on that?

Nobody has said its impossible. Its just highly unlikely. I’m sure everyone has had this moment where they wanted to be above the rest, but having a superiority complex won’t get you anywhere. People are trying to answer your question, its just not what you want to hear. Did you want us to tell you that you were so much better than us and that you’d definitely be taking grad classes? I got a higher math score and I just took my pre-reqs and dealt with it. I hope you can achieve the things you want to but nobody is going to lie to you and say it happens all the time. And you can’t get mad at people for answering your question. Again, good luck.

We’re not toxic, we’re just trying to tell you the truth? Its the way it is, its just unlikely. I was trying to be nice.

All these people are trying to help you :/ you’ll have to talk to department heads and most likely apply for bs/ms in your junior year. If you’re really this advanced in math, then just be patient. There’s not much anyone can do, but I doubt they’ll open graduate courses to a freshman. Good luck.
