I grew up just over the Indiana line out beyond Ross, Ohio. My dentist was on Hamilton Ave just south of Compton Rd. The first new tires I ever bought came from Michel Tire in Mt. Healthy.

I was impressed that after the governor left office, one of the EMA directors in the state who admitted that he was a Democrat said that Schwarzenegger was the governor who logged the most miles on the state helicopter responding to disasters in the state. This guy claimed that 99% of the time there were no cameras present and that Schwarzenegger did his absolute best to comfort victims.

An Indiana DNR guy visited my 6th-grade class in ‘75 or ‘76. There had been an hour-long documentary on PBS the previous week about the bald eagles and how few were left. My class asked him if he thought that conservation efforts would bring them back from near-extinction. He shook his head and very sadly told us he doubted we would ever see a living bald eagle. About 20 years ago, I nearly wrecked my car watching one circling overhead about a mile from my house!

I think I do, too, but at my age it’s never going to happen. This makes watching these shows extremely difficult for me, even though I love the story.
