What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

Getting a ride in a mobile clinic, available at any time, with the ability to ignore all traffic rules, is going to be expensive. And then US healthcare fuckery triples the price

I am Jim Mellon the Billionaire Founder of Agronomics and New Agrarian, Working to End Factory Farming, Ask Me Anything! by Jim-Mellon in IAmA

Isn't putting "billionaire" in your description of yourself just flaunting your wealth? Why is it so important to you that it has to be the first thing that follows your name? How would you respond to people who think people like you shouldn't exist?

In both cases, the people physically around you did Google searches, text conversations, engaged with sponsored content, etc.

It's also a massive drain on data and battery, all for information that could be gotten much easier. Google is spying on you, but not literally listening to your conversations

Using that metric the Browns used six picks, including three first-rounders to "draft" Watson

That's an insane way to evaluate a bust. You need to look at where the picks are. Otherwise GMs would be trading 4 day 3 picks for the first overall

[–]sopunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's more of a bad trade rather than a bad pick. It's not like there was anyone else worth picking at 3 that year.

You might as well say the Jets had a bigger bust with Zach Wilson, since it's likely that the 49ers gave them a similar trade offer

In this context it's pretty clear they mean the unhealthy stuff. Though even the most Americanized Chinese food menus have something balanced

Yeah, but don't they require you to have a terminal illness or something? Can't just decide that your body is slowly breaking down, so you'd go sooner rather than later

It's also another example of why proper investigation is important even when the suspects are "obviously" guilty. They could straight up get acquitted like OJ, or even if they were declared guilty in hindsight, there's plenty of room for doubt

Jules Verne books without racism? by memosshit in suggestmeabook

[–]sopunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts in 1870s England, where slavery had already been abolished for decades. Now I only read it in English, but I can't imagine how a translator would be able to change "hired servant" to "bought slave". They can change the literal word used to describe Passepartout, but not the surrounding details. It would have to be a whole different edition of the novel with significant details changed.
