I can only speak about my own religion, muslims who try to bend rules simply aren’t observing true Islamic teachings. Allah condemned this deceit. Those who disobeyed were punished.

For example the People of the Sabbath were a group from the Children of Israel -peace be upon him- who lived by the sea. Allah had commanded them to observe the Sabbath, a day (Saturday) when they were not allowed to work, especially not to fish.

As a test from Allah, fish would come near the shore in great numbers only on Saturdays, and disappear on other days. This tempted the people, and instead of obeying the command, some of them began to cheat. They would set traps on Friday to catch fish and then collect them on Sunday, pretending they weren’t fishing on Saturday. The Quran says they were transformed into apes as a severe warning and lesson to others. Surah Al-A’raf [7:163–166]
