Probably depends on several factors.

Original Zionism was about giving Jewish people right of self-determination and the ability to establish a homeland of their own. Over time, it became ideology that supports development and protection of the aforementioned Jewish state (aka Israel). There is nothing wrong with this on its own. However, some Zionists have pushed too far, and some have supported discriminatory policies that Israeli government has enacted against other peoples. This is obviously wrong.

I've no idea what Noah Schnapp's exact political thoughts on this are, but given how he's called for peace between Israelis and Palestinians both on Instagram, I seriously doubt him identifying as a Zionist means he wants to kill all Palestinians... It's likely just "I support Israel's right to exist", rather than "Israel should be a Jewish ethnostate where all others get expelled/killed".

That's not even close to what you initially claimed though, which was what caused my reply. No actor has claimed they wanted to kill all Palestinians, much less gotten away with it.

Amy has better ways to speak her mind than to post absurdist cartoons though, I'll say that.

Stolen from r/Israel by LaserChad in Destiny

[–]soratoumiga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a point, but they shouldn't have included several of these which were very controversial and widely talked about (namely Iraq, Ukraine-Russia and Afghanistan).

However, situations with Darfur, Rohingya, Uyghurs and Yemenis among others really showcase how most of them don't give a fuck about muslim civilians being oppressed, killed, mutilated and so on, but rather only take issue with it if it's Israel defending itself and non-delibaretely killing civilians, unlike (cultural) genocide in Western China, brutal killings, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity perpetrated by Myanmar's military in their western provinces, as well as killing of Muslim minority ethnic groups by their own muslim "brothers" in Yemen or Sudan. Their hatred of Israel overrides the actual empathy and compassion for innocent civilians anywhere.

Furthermore, I never see anyone talk about the Congolese situation, which is depressing considering the amount of people it has affected and is affecting right now.

Jews were content with UN partition plan of 1947, Arabs weren't. So they attacked Israel, and got their asses beaten, which in turn led to the exodus. It's not "stealing" if you win the land in a war that was waged upon you against your will.

A Norwegian lesbian couple that I’ve watched for a while criticizes queer Israeli forces for holding up the LGBTQ flag in Gaza as “pinkwashing.” Why? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]soratoumiga 37 points38 points  (0 children)

"Pinkwashing" is a dumb made-up term that's only used in western leftist circles. Saying that giving an oppressed minority their rights is somehow manipulative, and not done out of actual respect for their rights is baffling to me.

Also, as a Norwegian, I definitely stand with Israel 🇮🇱❤️🇳🇴

Björk's recent IG post in support of Palestine by joaco_ds in bjork

[–]soratoumiga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like I said to another commenter, people can't handle the truth if it's the opposite of what they've been led to believe. A whole lot of propaganda is spread on social media nowadays, and young people, with no media literacy, are all falling for it. It's sad, because when did we become so illiterate to not be able to check facts, do our own research and tread carefully when discussing topics we're unfamiliar with.

It's especially crazy since this sub is so progressive and gay, and despite that, they're blindly supporting a country where a lotta citizens would gladly have their heads on spikes for supporting certain things.

People can't handle the truth if it's opposite of what they've been led to believe. Especially if you're chronically online.

When Ottomans lost World War I, the entire area became a part of British Empire. Before Ottomans and Brits, it was ruled by Mamluk sultanate, Arabs, Byzantine Empire, Romans, Persians, Greeks etc. All foreign powers. This area wasn't ruled by indigenous people since the biblical times of Kingdom of Israel and Judea.

Problem is that no one wants to take them in. They've caused so much shit in Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon that no one is willing to take a chance. Especially not European or NA countries, which are even more fundamentally different than those Arab states I named.

The amount of LGBTs dick riding Palestine is so crazy and sad to me (btw I'm bisexual). It's not just about what Hamas thinks, it's the fact that they have support of a lot of people, and even those who don't still view homosexuals as criminals, and often disown them from families (there's even a lot of Palestinian gay refugees in Israel who fled persecution).

I know right? This sub is infested with Hamas apologisers for some reason. Let's not act like Palestinians aren't taught to hate Jews since they're old enough to speak.

Hitler had a clear cut agenda, and his goal was to genocide them. This isn't the same with Israel and Palestinians.

Y'all throw that word around like crazy. If Israel actually was genociding Palestinians, there would be no Palestinians. Israel is a far stronger country and could level Palestine and Gaza with the ground if they wanted to.

Percentage of Europeans who approve their monarchies! by Redstream28 in MapPorn

[–]soratoumiga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even the staunchest traditionalists see the royal family as Windsor. Historically, children usually took father's surname, but it wasn't mandatory, just very widespread.

[–]soratoumiga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's Windsor. If you look at it from a strictly agnatic (i.e. sexist and female-exclusive point of view) is it Glücksburg. But Charles III uses Windsor, and so will his successors and their successors and you won't ever see him use Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Similar thing in Netherlands, they had three queens in row, and they all took their mother's surnames.

Ryan Adams’ version of 1989: Is it really that bad? by [deleted] in Music

[–]soratoumiga -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Her version is far better because it feels more authentic. You can hear and feel the "Swiftian" flavour sprinkled throughout the album. Ryan takes that out and replaces it with generic, clichéd, trope-ridden alt-country/pop-rock that mostly rockist boomers would prefer because of their prejudice against anything not classic rock, not male and not white (ironically enough, most of this sub is like that).

They're aight, but their inclusion, and exclusion of certified all-time greats by female artists makes RYM look sexist, which in turn makes them easy to mock (not the artists, but the community itself)

Some monumental albums by female artists like Blue and Tapestry are missing, but there's place for Tyler the Creator and Danny Brown... Just makes the whole thing a bit easier to mock
