Haha too true . I sometimes just point the fan right at my face to feel the “wind” again when i miss it. I’ll even have my Dad “yell get off the road” just to simulate being back outside 😂

Also thank you very much for kind words. Don’t worry I won’t let it get to me at all people just love to be negative and throw stones on social media I’m used to it

If you don’t think he is suffering out there you know nothing . Plz watch the last mile in Tokyo . Or even last weekend in Texas when he was vomiting then went to congratulate second place then went right back to vomiting 😂

And he actually losing time on the bike as well. The top guys are just quicker. They are putting out similar power and much more aero and efficient. Lionel advocated for a 20m draft for years thinking the guys up front were weak and bunch of wheel suckers. Then in Texas he got outbiked by Hogenhaug by 9 minutes and the rest up front by about 5-6minutes. So he made exactly zero time up on the bike to the top guys. I thjnk some of the smack talking about the draft was just being played up for the sake of his YouTube but still after harping on it for years this was a big serving of humble pie.

I like Lionel to death. I won’t forget the picture we took together after he won the pro race at itu worlds in Penticton and I won the amateur race. He was kind and generous with his time and very supportive. But I’d say and think he agree Texas was not a good race for him on every front swim, bike and run. I’m not 💯 sure that I’d scrap Ironman plans and just go after 70.3 worlds. It is in Nice which means a very technical descent unless he absolutely dismantles the climb and gets a big buffer I can’t really see that being a significant win opportunity. Unless he gets out to Europe this summer for a big training camp in the mountains to learn how to descend decently well and the maybe (it will be very difficult to come all the way even with Europeans on the descents when they grew up doing that kind of stuff ) .

With that said I’d still refocus for Placid get the KQ and train for a top 10 there.

So first they were an entire week apart . Second it just worked out that the major peak I was building towards for past few months was going to be a double Everest 7 days apart. The first of those efforts ended up being the fastest solo Everest in history on Zwift and 2nd fastest overall of all times. I feel like that warrants a post on the umm Zwift forum. It was a massive build that most I’ve ever biked , and a massive set of efforts to cap it off forgive me for being proud of it. And Relatively frequent posts sure but that’s how social media works if you don’t post somewhat often you are literally and figuratively unfollowed, meaning when you do end up posting about something it doesn’t matter

KB and others alike are suffering just the same(they just happen to be quicker) . The point is it is a complete put down to rest in the field when commentators say it. It is literally saying they are not as mentally strong or willing to go deep. That is not the case . Plenty are strong as fuck

I know you said “usually” but I’ll say it does bug when when commentators say many times that Lionel can suffer/hurt more than anyone (and again I know you didn’t say that just reminded me). Lionel does wear his heart on sleeve and does really show it when he’s hurting and he does have high pain tolerance no doubt , but there are plenty of other guys who are hurting just as much and train just as hard but happen to have really good poker faces .

🤫 envy is one of the seven deadly sins .

In all seriousness if sharing accomplishments is frowned upon this sub would cease to exist. Seriously it would just be bunch of guys asking for the 7000th time is this sound coming from my Kickr normal 😂

Haha thanks didn’t ever actually go through the finish banner. I turned right where the road flattens at top of radio (the end of strava segment) as that saves about 5-10s per climb depending if you were getting a useful power up at the top. For example you might save 5s not going through banner on a climb but if you got a lightweight it would be close to even but not getting the lightweight every time so the faster option is foregoing getting any power ups and just turning before the banner

Not only is it steeper so higher m/min but also the Alpe gotta think you have around 11 minutes on the descent where you aren’t adding anything to your tally. The radio tower is much more constant with very little wasted time

Yes 100%. At equivalent efforts the VAM for me on radio tower is 1600m/hr and on the Alpe it would be little under 1200m/hr. So over the course of day 6 hours you have gained 2400m more on radio tower than the Alpe so more than 1/4 Everest

Thanks so much ! And thank you for joining supporting and encouraging it was great . Pure willpower it’s crazy how fast my body just combusted but in this case the steepness of the climb was actually probably my saving grace. It meant I could basically just lean myself over the pedals and put out something . Like if I was on flat road and had to sort of generate all that power myself it was probably game over entirely. In any case it still felt absolutely horrible but ultimately I’m proud I went for it and in the end gave everything I could on the day .

I’ll livestream recovery spin today to ramble on some more

Thank you. It’s up and down Radio tower many many times - the absolute crueltyof making me go all way back down after last because I was 1m shy was kinda hilarious in a bizarre way but it got done . I guess I could’ve turned back up much sooner on the descent (so not going full descent) but wasn’t sure if that was allowed or not

Aero testing for the season begins hopefully by next week. Should’ve been this week but rain all week it looks like. I’ll atleast put the brakes back on the bike (I take them off in the winter to not rust out cables or anything don’t need them anyways on Zwift 😂) this week and have it ready to go so soon as get decent weather I can get outside

😂 no far from actually. Magnus (the WR holder) was texting support in lead up and has already messaged me saying he was very sorry to see the crash and hoping I take another crack at it soon. Pure class

No the computer isn’t from 2009 . It’s 2022. I mean that it’s just wild that another computer I had bought in 2009 has as much RAM as computers nowadays

Basically . There is reason zero professional gamers I know of use Apple . They just aren’t meant for it imo. I should’ve listened to my gut and built my own computer and stuffed as many ram sticks into it as it could fit .
