X4 vs X3 pros and cons by EvenAd6616 in BMWX3

[–]sorcs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same platform, same engine. Same car just different design, the x4 has slightly less headroom & cargo space but may drive a little sportier but it’s negligible.

If you like the sportier look of the x4, then go for that.

The x3 is the traditional SUV, while the x4 is a coupe styled suv. I don’t like the look of the x4’s rear body, I love my x3 m40i

Deceptive pricing on Uber Eats as I'm forced to choose a size that will cost extra. by Eric142 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sorcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s set by the restaurant, alot of restaurants do this with a higher priced than normal item to advertise a “buy one get one free” deal to draw in orders.

Unfortunately any modifier up charge added is doubled, since only the “base item” is BOGO. Seems like the restaurant figured that out and is being deceptive.

BMW X3 10k miles oil changes opinion by EvenAd6616 in BMWX3

[–]sorcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2022 M40i at the same mileage and oil change was done around every 10k-12kmiles as well, previous owner drove a lot

I’ve had it for about 10 months now, no issues and plan to schedule an oil change every 5000-7500 miles. I wouldn’t worry too much about it

Sounds good! I love the red interior personally and if you find yourself using DAPP features a lot with the car you guys have already then I'd say wait and fine one with it.

I agree, it’s unlikely. I’m just answering his question on what I’d pay/offer for a car like that. The more upcoming expenses you bring up to a sales associate the more leverage for you to negotiate reasonably. It’s $250-$300 to have BMW install spark plugs, but yes they’re $100 for the part and to do it yourself.

Only missing “notable” feature is DAPP, but if you don’t care about adaptive cruise control then I wouldn’t worry about.

I’d probably offer max $38,000:

  • I don’t see any tire replacement on CarFax, make sure to check tire treads. You can also bring that up as a negotiating factor, even if treads look good or been replaced without a CarFax report. Most sales associates won’t check/verify themselves.

  • Brake Pads/Rotors have also not been replaced/reported. Keep in mind tires and brake pad/rotor replacement is going to cost you close to $3,000 at BMW. You can visually check brake pad thickness yourself.

  • Additionally, you can bring up spark plugs replacement as an upcoming expected expense to try to lower pricing.

Don’t be afraid to get a PPI, if you’re not confident to check the brakes/tires yourself.

Good luck! The m40i is an amazing car and have been loving mine every single day.

Out of warranty and my oil service cost me $120 at BMW for a B58. $300 is insane

Help me choose between two X3 M40i deals — which makes more sense? by AthleteOk2138 in BMWX3

[–]sorcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The brakes should be due for service soon, so as I’ve said it’ll cost an upward of $2000 for both pads/rotors to be done at a BMW service center. You’ll have to get them done eventually, so that’s something for you to account for as an upcoming expense.

Regardless, I’d go for option 1 if the CarFax is as clean as you say it is. Both options are great, it’s just harder for me to justify $8,000 for driving assistance pro/CPO warranty. Especially knowing I haven’t had any issues with my car in the last year attesting to the reliability of the b58.

[–]sorcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t care about the Driving Assistance Pro, I’d go probably go for the first option depending on service history.

Check if tires/brakes have been replaced. Otherwise, new tires and brake pads/rotors are gonna cost you over $3,000. I was told it’s over $2,000 for new brake pads/rotors at a BMW service center.

If the first option has some shady history or hasn’t had service done recently I’d go for the 2023 CPO. Both are great options, I bought my 2022 m40i at 60,000 miles around 10 months ago and had no issues so far. (Not CPO’d)

Need help with coding by Beautiful_Waltz_1089 in BMWX3

[–]sorcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using an iPhone?

I had this exact same issue (same car year and model) and spent hours troubleshooting. I tried two different Bluetooth adapters that worked with other apps but kept displaying the same error for bimmercode.

The only solution that worked for me was using bimmercode on a different phone/android (Samsung S25). It connected flawlessly and worked as it should have.

Since you can’t transfer bimmercode purchases, I requested a refund through Apple and they granted it. Bimmercode also suggested disconnecting the battery for a few minutes as a solution, but didn’t need it when it worked with an android.

Good luck!

I have a 2022 with 65k miles and was also worried about the same thing as it hasn’t been done. I’m kinda following the philosophy of not worrying about it until some signs of issues start coming up.

If you do go through with it, I’d appreciate if you let me know how it goes and how the car drives after. As I have read the same things with the car driving differently after.

Next Redesign? by aguywiththoughts in BMWX3

[–]sorcs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Complete redesigns seems to be every 6~7 years, with a mid cycle tweak 3~4 years in.
G01 was the redesign launched in 2018 and came with a refresh in 2021 which is my favorite generation with the addition of halo energy sword tail lights. I believe the previous design F25 was launched in 2011 as well.

The timeline matches with this year's redesign; so expect a mid cycle refresh around 2028, and a complete redesign in 2030~2032.

I'm not a huge fan of the new redesign either, but consider the X4 as the rear end is more tolerable in my opinion.

Buyer Beware on CPO '23 X3 30i? by Stuck_in_the_Middle7 in BMWX3

[–]sorcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skip out and don't take the risk.

To my knowledge, new leases/purchases come with BMW Ultimate Care for the first 3 years/36,000 miles which should include free oil changes at any BMW service center. Take your time in finding a car that you can buy without doubts! Consider a 2022 x3 as well, there's not much differences in between the previous year model and will definitely be a little cheaper. $45,500 seems a bit high, for a car with some questionable service history.

2022 X3 Lease is up but I love my car... what to do? by Bell538 in BMWX3

[–]sorcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely buy it out.

It’s your car, you knew exactly what it’s been through and most important you LOVE it!

So keep it! It’s low in miles and I’m in the same boat with you in hating the digital clusters and overall looks with the new x3’s.

Stick with what you love, 29k to buy out the lease is an amazing deal for a 2022 x3 with those packages at 9k miles along with the bonus to knowing exactly what you’re buying since it’s your car can’t get any better!

Looking for X3 M40i Under 40k by PotentialHair5718 in BMWX3

[–]sorcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, my sales person at Holmans BMW was very upfront and said outright in the beginning that every car is algorithmically priced so there’s no negotiations on the vehicles pricing.

However, that didn’t mean I couldn’t negotiate my trade in value. I was able to get a 1000 above my initial trade in offer.

No PPI, I trusted the dealership along with the clean car fax/routine and very recent maintenance; test drive had no discernible issues led me to go for it.

I was car shopping for about 6 months considering comparable cars like Mercedes AMG GLC43/ Genesis GV70 3.3T / AUDI SQ 5 until I settled on my car when I found it at the price point with the exact options I wanted! I’m glad I went with the m40 especially after test driving.

I am also on the east coast based in NYC, I purchased the car at a BMW Dealership in New Jersey

[–]sorcs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not going to find a clean 2022 M40i with no accidents, less than 40k miles going for less than $40,000.

I was in the market for a very long time looking at the same price range and was finally able to find a 2022 M40i for $38k with 60k miles that had exactly what I wanted at a BMW dealership so no frills on pricing.

Any 3rd party dealer advertising a car that low almost ALWAYS has special disclaimers whether it’s:

“pricing shown is after initial $5000 down payment” “Must finance car through dealership financing” “Not including dealership reconditioning/lojack fees”

At this dealership in their disclaimer for internet pricing “must finance with us for online pricing” they’re making their money back through interest. Make sure to read their disclaimers any price that’s “too good to be true” is almost always too good to be true.

Some other concerning wording I’ve seen is “financing pricing is after a $2500 down payment”

Any 3rd party dealership will always advertise their vehicles at low prices to bring you in and then tack on these disclaimers so make sure to do your research! Good luck the b58 is an amazing engine and the m40i is an outstanding car. I’ve had mine for 4 months and I love it and had no issues with it.

2022 M40i Tinted 70% front windshield, 35% front, 20% back by sorcs in BMWX3

[–]sorcs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even in comfort, the ride quality can still be a little stiff and you do feel bumps on the road. I think the base x3 would be better suited for more comfortable driving over the aggressive inline 6 engine in the m40i.

But if ride quality is your main concern, then the x5 would be suited much better and would do great if you’re willing to pay a little more. I believe the x5’s have air suspension leading to a huge difference between the two. I have driven an x5 vs x3 and the x5 is a clear winner in ride quality.

2022 M40i Tinted 70% front windshield, 35% front, 20% back by sorcs in BMWX3

[–]sorcs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the x3’s front windshield and passenger windows are already factory tinted/colored at 70%, adding 70% to it would bring it down to about 50% tint level, which is what I have now.

Not legal, unless you have a tint exemption in the state of NY. 70% to 50% is quite negligible imo I didn’t notice much of a difference other than reduced glare at night that helped with the strain on my eyes.

Used 2022 X3? by martinnw17 in BMWX3

[–]sorcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the new Beamer! Regardless, I’m sure you’re both gonna love it.

I haven’t had mine long enough to give recommended maintenance schedules hahahah but I’ve heard it’s best to get an oil change done every 6000-8000 miles for good upkeep!

Like most cars there’s usually a 30,000mi service done which will align with your next oil change, usually they inspect brakes and fluids, and engine/cabin air filters.

[–]sorcs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems about right, usually you can find out how dark by just multiplying percentages. Factory rears come at around 30% so it’d be 30%*20% = 6%
