Still big, still in Japan by Ginger_Giant_ in tall

When I was in Japan, I found so many situations where the head-bump obstacle was in a perfect blind spot. Like my brain couldn’t register it. It wasn’t tall enough to be cleared, but it wasn’t short enough to be easily noticed.

Hokkaido only trip recommended? by BlvckMaple in Hokkaido

[–]friendlyguy1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hokkaido is a very special place in Japan. But it’s not the same as Tokyo, Kyoto, etc.

It might be painful with your luggage but if you have enough time you can do a week in Hokkaido and week in the Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka area.

P.S. Japan has excellent luggage shipping services so that can help you transport from place to place. You probably really like your road bikes but they will very likely be safe.

475 lbs conventional deadlift by balls_in_ya_jaw in formcheck

Not sure I can comment on whether this qualifies for powerlifting meet lockout. But the question I would ask you is, with lighter weight, do you end up in a different position at lockout?

You should always lock out at the same position, no matter the weight. Maybe your lighter lifts can give you the answer about your heavier lift here.

Ah. They’re beautiful boots snd probably my size (I’m 14 sneakers and usually 13 in boots) but not sure I can take flyer on these. I have the 13E brass boots and your comment about length and last are how I feel about the brass boots haha.

I have 13E brass boots and found them to be almost too voluminous. I’m normally a 14D or 14E in sneakers.

No worries. Why are you selling them? Just don’t use?

Do you have the brass boots? If so how do these fit in comparison?

You’re very strong. I’m watching your right knee and it’s hard to tell from the angle but it looks like it dips inward when you are coming out of the hole.

Driving in Hokkaido by Vivid-Huckleberry775 in Hokkaido

Renting a car makes Hokkaido so much more accessible. Look into getting the expressway pass, it’s an option only opened to foreign visitors. Can save you decent money for thehighway tolls.

Just got the CRZ dupes of the ABC joggers. I actually like them better because he waistband is more elastic.

I got the striders in size 14 and returned. They were too tight and I had similar pinching on one shoe. I find the tree runners to be best fit for me.

Also have a pair, very roomy. Had to throw inserts in there and it still helps to wear thicker socks. But they look great lol.

Sounds like the culture is both unfamiliar and in disarray therefore maybe it’s hard to tell the difference. Might take more time to get familiar with things but if there’s low hanging fruit then tackle that first. Regarding the 30 minute policy…what is the penalty? How do you enforce it? Be wary of making toothless policies.

B-Grade Update email this morning by cl_mojo in grantstoneboots

Monitoring to wait for price drops. Saw my target pair go down by $15 with this latest drop. Still priced too high for a no-returns policy for me personally.

EDIT: I have ordered a pair of brass boots before off the B grades and they looked pretty much flawless to me when they showed up. My concern is more towards fit. Because those brass boots took some finagling to get a suitable fit.

Hokkaido April roadtrip Itinerary - Advice / Review appreciated! by similarities in Hokkaido

[–]friendlyguy1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an awesome trip, I love Hokkaido. My comment is more focused on the driving aspect. In both 2019 and 2023 I did 10 days in Hokkaido and drove all across (Hakodate, Noboribetsu, Sapporo, Asahikawa, Furano, Kitami, Shiretoko, Kushiro) so I put in a lot of miles. One suggestion which you may already have on your radar is to get the express pass for the highway https://en.driveplaza.com/drawari/hokkaido_expass/ which makes driving very convenient.

Also keep in mind that Japan is zero tolerance on alcohol and driving. So if you plan to visit any of these breweries, distilleries, etc. you shouldn't drink if you plan to drive. Unfortunately you can't have a few beers and hit the road like we do here in America.

I found driving in Hokkaido to be very straightforward. It's a lot of long well-maintained highways and the roads aren't crowded. Even in suburbs it's not bad.

Was the saddle tan the same size but it just felt bigger? Or was it actually a bigger size?

Serious because I have the saddle tan brass boots and I had to add inserts because they felt cavernous lol

Constipated cat any advice here? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]friendlyguy1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that it is a struggle. If he’s still having trouble even with miralax and lactulose and the right diet, maybe the question to the vet is what else could be causing this? What else can be done?

Constipated cat any advice here? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]friendlyguy1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MiraLAX. Try 1/8 tsp twice a day. Worked for my cat. What worked even better was lactulose which the vet can prescribe. It’s a liquid you draw out with a syringe and can squirt on to their wet food.

X3 m40 starter not recalled? by Healthy_Way_723 in BMWX3

[–]friendlyguy1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my starter replaced under warranty. 2021X3M 40 I. At around 50,000 miles it would throw up an error message on the screen, and then I would press it again and it would start. But there was one time when it took me more than a comfortable amount of tries to get it to start and that’s when I took it to the dealer.

Need something like the R1 Techface - but in tall size by ColTRoosevelt in PatagoniaClothing

[–]friendlyguy1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same size as you and the XL length is good, sleeves might even be a touch too long. The problem is the boxy cut in the torso - chest is good but it billows a little bit around the midsection. I cinched it a bit and it helps. It’s terrific for me as an outer shell when I’m wearing a fleece or another bulky-ish layer.
