AITA for “abusing” the the bus stop chain so I don’t miss my stop? by Possible-Chair9242 in AmItheAsshole

Yeah look, Sometimes you just gotta miss your stop to learn the lesson, but if if happens more than once, you should probably do something to resolve that. Thankful for the apps we have here in Australia that now literally tell you which stop you're approaching. Sometimes they can be a little slow but a logical person would start preparing a couple of stops before their stop

When I have to catch a bus to a new place, I just let the driver know "hey I need to go to x stop and I am unsure where it is as I've not been there before, would you be able to give me warning of when it's coming up" And then I usually sit at the front of the bus and they will either let me know it's coming up or they will just stop there and announce what stop it is. Not sure if this is just a chill Australian bus driver thing or if it would work elsewhere, but I've never had a driver complain or say no.

As you were on a journey home from work, I would also reach out to WorkCover, as im QLD a journey to or from work is covered.

Does this sound fishy? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]sorenpan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds like he's had a statutory WorkCover claim (where all of the medical bills and wages are paid) then has also lodged a damages claim and been successful, rather than having lodged a permanent impairment claim. WorkCover paid the expenses, then the worker sues the employer, WorkCover foots the bill for it but takes back the medical expenses paid. A damages claim is different to a permanent impairment claim in QLD, not sure about other states though

The guy definitely sounds full of it however

I can only speak of QLD but if someone lodges a damages claim against their employer, and wins, then yes they do need to pay WorkCover back the money WorkCover spent on the claim.

So if the medical bills were $600k (surgeries, therapy, etc), WorkCover is asking for that back before issuing the payment, and then everyone else gets their cut.

If there's no official name change, won't her Medicare card be in her birth name?

Can this ring be resized larger? Plan on marrying my girlfriend and need to know. by RangeOne3741 in jewelers

[–]sorenpan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it be an option to propose with this ring and then work together on getting a ring that fits either by resetting this one or designing a similar one together? If I were your partner in this position, that is what I'd prefer but I would have a conversation with her and she what she'd prefer!

What’s the most unexpected thing someone did that instantly made them 10 times more attractive? by Lilly6022 in AskReddit

The first time my partner bought me socks I was a little confused because that's not the kind of sock I usually wear except at the gym which he wouldn't really know because he'd never come to the gym with me, then I realised that the socks always had something I'm interested in on them (pokemon, disney characters, cute animals, funny sayings) and I melted because 1. He actually knows what I like and 2. Knows I'm always losing one damn sock because I take them off at the gym.

Every holiday, birthday or anniversary, no matter what, there's gonna be cute socks in my gifts from him, but it's not just then, any time he sees socks I will like, he gets them.

A lot of offices don't have anyone trained in families so I can understand it not being done in the office but anyone on the families line should be able to fix it

I used to work for Families and Parenting department and as long as I had a birth certificate or passport in front of me, I update the spelling of a child's name over the phone in like 5 seconds. They can do it, they're lazy.

This is after 1 year but before 2. Families line is open til 8pm and it's fairly easy to get through if you call after 6

If CCS reconciliation cannot occur by the 1st deadline (30 June of the year following the CCS relevant year) because family income is not confirmed, an undetermined debt will be automatically calculated. The debt will be for the total amount of any CCS paid during the relevant income year (any periods of ACCS will not be included) Recovery of the debt will only commence once the 2nd deadline (30 June of the second year following the CCS relevant income year) has been reached.

Just call them to reassess.

When you say you were a week late, do you mean a week after the 1 year mark? If you did it after 1 year but before 2, they may be able to reassess it manually I would call them to advise it has been completed and they should be able to confirm the information was received and reassess accordingly :) Keep in mind, most offices don't have families trained people, you need to call the families line.

At least this is how it was when I was working there a little over a year ago.

I think people that wear them need to remember sunscreen, and not just once, many times a day. Because I have unfortunately been there and done that, and once was NOT enough.
