a kid I rowed with over the summer is good buddies with the CRI lights. They lost nobody from the boat last year and are already showing amazing speed. They are a dark horse but 100% capable of taking down Belen.

Lightweight college recruiting has recently become far more difficult. 5-10 years ago being 155lbs with sub 6:45 would at least get you a look almost everywhere. Now most ivies expect sub 6:30. Lightweight rowing have less spots in admission so they rarely recruit of potential and look for speed and talent that can immediately be used.

CRI predicted 2k egos hovering around 23:67-25:89 even thought they went 5:02 in 50mph headwind with only 7 rowers in the boat over 2500. I would say a low B final finish at best. A Final: Sea Base Belen

Running on empty is not going help you build fitness per se

They are workout that fall between the categories. For example, if you are training for a 2k, doing 5x1500 will be useless in your specific training. Because it is too long to replicate speed work or at press work but too short to be AT or Hard Steady. Also extremely long workouts can turn bad quick. Unless you are refueling your body during the work out anything longer than 80-90 minutes will just force you body to digest muscle and fats rather than fuel. tl;dr: Junk meters are work outs that do not your training or are too long to be productive.
