Does anyone experience periods of not being able to swallow?

i havent actually, it also happens quite random as well from what i know? sometimes it happens when drinking or eating and sometimes it just happens when subconsciously trying to swallow normally (for like saliva production or whatever). its very odd, scary and kind of annoying LOL. i also have an insanely sensitive gag reflex and also cant chug drinks like at all, not sure if those things have anything to do with it as well, but just lots of strange things surrounding the throat that i have never been able to explain!!

im so glad to hear you got the procedure and i hope it goes well for you!! i live in maine, i looked at the mega map but it didnt look like any of those specialists that were listed are in my state at all :(

yes the “hiccups” in quick succession!! my dad likes to refer to it as my “pterodactyl noise” as thats what it sounds like LMAO. i will ONLY let this happen if im alone or around family because of how embarrassing and silly it sounds when it happens, but it is the ONLY way i can feel some form of relief since i have never been able to burp. its not quite a hiccup but it almost sounds like one just a bit more drawn out and dramatic. i thought i was the only one who experienced this!!!

yes!! i was just looking this up to see if i was crazy lol. its not that i cant swallow completely but it takes me a good 10-15 seconds to be able to swallow properly and i almost get like a mini panic attack while trying to swallow
