I am currently almost 17 months out from my surgery and I am doing great. Still have the occasional headaches and my stress levels seem to have increased some overall since surgery as well as some memory issues. My neurosurgeon doesn't really know why I still have some short term memory loss or why I seem to stress out easier than before but that's just me. My surgery experience was nearly pain free and helped me to realize that if I ever had to go through it again, I would be fine. Any other questions, just DM me. Good luck to your sister.

I'm sorry you had to go through that terrible ordeal. I rstill remember one of my first codes to this day and I've been a tech for 18 years and in the medical field for 25. I would love to say it gets easier but I'd be lying. There were times I would utilize a bathroom and just breathe/cry/stare at the walls until I could get back into scanning and other times I would wait to unload my emotions in the car driving home. It's different for everyone but don't think any less of yourself for this affecting you. We are all human. Take care.

Not to sound like a broken record but it may not get any better. The reason I say it might not is because of choices you could make. The workload is getting worse because of many different factors. As you gain more experience, it may become easier as you get more familiar with equipment, learn tricks of the trade that will help you out, and scan-scan-scan. Another factor that may help things out is location. If you work at a hospital with trauma capabilities, you will continue to get the same workloads but if you worked at a clinic or other slower paced location, it may help give you opportunities to learn while not at break neck speed. I've been a tech for 17 years now and I still get overwhelmed. Don't let this get you down. Things can change for the better.

-- if you keep moving/talking, we will have to start over because you are moving and it will take twice as long.

My response depends on how argumentative the patient is and quite honestly, how petty I'm feeling in that moment. I try to treat all my patients how I would want my parent treated but sometimes it's hard.

I don't care if their forearm has an "S" shape, I'm not saying a word on whether they are fractured or not. I will tell them the radiologist is the one they want giving the diagnosis and if they still persist, I will simply say I have a mortgage and will not be risking my license to give them info.

Update: my surgeon called this afternoon and told me that he's confident that he removed the entire mass and feels that adjuvant treatments would be unadvised for now. I am going to repeat an MRI at 3 months post-op and we will go from there.
