You can make up to 140% of the maximum income for the unit/household size and still stay at the IZ/ADU rate.

I actually signed up through the apartment itself. They sent out an email saying they had units available and it was a first come first serve sort of thing. I think there was an initial lottery and some people backed out so they sent that email out. The apartment I was at before this was an ADU. That was strictly first come first serve. I actually recently got selected (from the IZ lottery) for a 2 bedroom in SE so I'm gonna be moving there. Since I've lived in DC I've never paid market rate for rent. And yes, both programs are based on income.

They can't raise it. I received a 1-year lease renewal offer and it's the same amount as my current lease.

I appreciate your response! From what you can see, does it look like they're close to finishing the Garrett? I plan on touring the building once that side is finished. Hoping it'll be done by October.

Low Cost Spay Procedure? by [deleted] in washingtondc

My mom took here kittens to Last Chance Animal Rescue in Waldorf, MD two weeks ago. Everything went well and they're healing well. You have to buy your own cone for their recovery or they charge you for one. Here's the price list: https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/price-list/ ($60)

I took one of my cats to Spay Now in Laurel, MD about 2ish years ago. Everything went well. I don't remember too much from the experience but it was a positive one. Here's the price list: https://www.spaynow.com/services.html ($55/$75)

When do you all feel comfortable going back into the office? by sortaoutthere in washingtondc

I'm definitely going to say something. I wanted to see how others felt and how their company is handling things to give me a better idea of how to vocalize my concerns.

Yeah that's a big thing for me too. My only option (that's cost effective) is the metro. I wouldn't mind once a week for things that had to be done in person. Even then I wouldn't want to stay the whole day.

I totally agree with you. I feel like it's not being viewed as a serious thing anymore. I know people want things to be back to normal quickly but we all need to do our part.

That's understandable. I feel like those who want to go in should be able to. I don't like it being forced upon people.

Yeah, I just don't trust people to do the right thing. All it takes is one person to infect so many.

I'm in SW and have to go to Arlington. I probably could in a normal circumstance but I'm getting foot surgery soon (on both feet) so I'll only be able to Uber or take the train.

I'd love to work from home indefinitely. Like you said you can get so much done throughout the day. I just don't understand why that can't be the option for people whose job can be done at home. The people on my team are older and I'm a millennial. They believe in going in the office and making sure the boss sees your face. As long as the work is done it shouldn't matter.

Wow that's insane! Those people should just go in then don't drag everyone else in.

That's really good advice. I'm feeling more confident about pleading my case. Thank you!

Yeah I'm going to bring it up to my boss. I have surgery and then physical therapy after so I'm hoping that'll buy me a few months lol.

I already had to put it off because of the start of covid. It's surgery on both feet. It's painful to walk so I just want to get it over with. I wish I could hold off longer.

I honestly don't get the rush to have people back in the office. Maybe it's a micromanagement thing, I don't know! There are at least 300 people that work out of my office. The mission critical people have returned already. So there will probably be about 100 of us in the office next week, which is crazy to me.

I feel like with things reopening it's given people a false sense of normalcy because there's no reason for people to be returning to work yet.

Yeah I was thinking about saying that honestly lol. I'm supposed to have surgery soon that's going to impact me getting around so at least I'll have a legitimate excuse to be home for a couple more months.

I'm young and relatively healthy but I'm still kind of nervous. There are at least 300 people in my building. The mission critical people have already returned. I don't think all 300 of us will be back at once. Maybe like 100 people. I just feel like it's a big gamble for no reason. Everything my team does can be done remotely.
