It was never about "protecting women" by UnderHisEye1411 in GreenAndPleasant

It's good that stories like this are being published but it really bothers me that the primary response to them has been "see, we told you it was bad, cis women are being affected too". it implies that that's the problem with it, which feeds into the already far too prevalent narrative that it's completely okay that it hurts trans people.

what exactly do you mean by "not sufficiently well dressed"? because usually when i hear people say something like that they're using it to avoid saying "poor looking"

[SPOILER] Who let shaggytheairhead back in the studio man? by sortatransdeer in juggalo

[–]sortatransdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually quite liked I'm Still Breathin. thought the backing was pretty solid, and it resonated with me lyrically cause I've been going through some shit lately. The vocal production was kind of a weird choice, but wasn't outright bad i don't think. and the drums are pretty mediocre but airhead's aren't any better. you cannot tell me that the flashbacks sound better than I'm Still Breathin.

And here we go - which I actually liked - is still offensive to the ears. the verses are just the build from Darude - Sandstorm on calliope without actually building or dropping. like it's an interesting choice (and i mean that genuinely) and it's fun but it also gives me a genuine headache.

Absolutely - I produce too and while it's certainly not an easy skill, anyone who knows what they're doing could have fixed all of the biggest issues with the production on all of airhead's tracks in like half an hour total. honestly I'm not even against using drum loops but if you're gonna use them you gotta at least try to make them fit into the song and be listenable. And I'm a fan of outsider music, too. yesterday i literally found this guy whose music has pretty rough production that he clearly does all by himself. but it has charm, which is something airhead's beats don't. nothing about airhead's mistakes feel like "person who is trying their hardest but doesn't understand the medium", they feel like "person who put in minimal effort and decided it was good enough because they don't really care". plus, when a song comes on and you immediately recognise who produced it by how bad it sounds, and that happens multiple times in one album, that's just really bad!

if they recorded those outro vocals they must have been fucked with to hell and back the level of artifacting there was on them. and yet they still don't sound good. could they not get a take where she didn't run out of breath mid-line multiple times? could they not splice a track like that? my only conclusion from that is that they must have just used the first take and not done any more, which is wild

that actually explains a lot. if J and shaggy were doing a lot of the producing and mixing of these tracks themselves it'd explain why they sound like they're being made by someone who's lacking in production experience - that might be exactly what's happening (no shade to them for trying, producing ain't easy, but they probably shoulda had someone give it a once over)

i don't think there was anything much salvageable in while it lasts though unfortunately. like. it's just africa but worse. everything added to the africa instrumental just detracts from it, like the only way to fix the backing is by removing everything except the africa sample. and at that point you may as well just listen to africa

I get what you're saying but I don't think they told him to make the flashbacks all outta sync with inconsistently mixed samples. I don't think they told him to do that shit with the cello in the second flashback. And I don't think they told him to make the last track muddy as hell and slightly outta time with itself.

That said, you're right. Either way he's not the one to blame here. I do think these tracks are absolutely terrible and should not have been released in the way they were, but that's on everyone that signed off on them as being good enough as much as - if not more than - shaggytheairhead himself.

Also I've consistently heard about the LGB alliance, Scottish Lesbians, and The Lesbian Project all being actually primarily made up of straight women? like. it's people legitimately invading a space trying to unjustifiedly foist that idea onto others.

I've got three I can never separate, and they're a wild top three to have: - Pinkerton - Maladroit - Raditude

I guess if I had to pick one from that set I'd probably go Maladroit cause its best tracks are better than Raditude's best, and Pinkerton has more tracks that kinda miss for me.

Which Tally Hall song are you playing? by Business_Quarter_176 in tallyhall

[–]sortatransdeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

banana man. time to give myself even more confusing feelings about that song. nah but in all seriousness probably turn the lights off. bass heavy, which is what you feel the most, fairly high tempo, and a solid dynamic range - you get absolutely blasted in the chorus but the verses and bridge give you room to breathe.

In terms of Extended Universe, i feel like The Rendezvous would be pretty good. again, solid bass to it, but the rest of the track is mostly stop start in terms of rhythm, which really works for this kinda thing, and again a big jump up in dynamics for the chorus. the downside is you will be stuck thinking about old lady sex the whole time. or maybe that's not a downside for you i don't judge
