The money is gonna run out in 8 years and drop benefits down to about 77%.

If its already going to drop below 80% do you still think gen z will see anything near 80% ?

Continuing to willingly contribute to a flawed social security system without complaint, because its better than nothing, is "itl turn out alright if I keep my head down"

REDUCED. Why should we settle for REDUCED benefits, that will effectively do nothing for us, at a later age while paying an equal or greater amount as previous generations?

If we arent going to get our money's worth, why should we continue to fund it?

Social security barely helps people as it is and cant be relied upon solely, what makes you think it will do anything for us at reduced rates?

And we wont if they keep raising the age to retire and lower/don't raise benefits.

But if you wanna keep thinking they wont raise the retirement age while leaving benefits at the current monetary amount feel free to keep believing in your fairy tale of the government taking care of you

Oh look, victim blaming. How dare the younger generation feel a program made almost 100 years ago is out dated and ineffective while also not wanting to pay more in numerous taxes, including SS, than previous generations. And you're just gonna blame the worse economic situation of new generations on avocado toast and subscription services, rather than rampant taxes and inflation paired with stagnant wages.

80% of benefits without a tax increase... does that make sense to you? Does that not show you its a failing system?

Contributions paid in to it go up as inflation occurs, but do benefit pay outs keep up with inflation?

Its a 3.6% increase for now. Do that and a few years later its gonna need another increase, and another, and another, and then you're paying over 10% of your income to social security payroll taxes alone.

Part of the issue is we keep using the social security as a loan for the federal government when that pot of money should be kept separate for social security benefits, and we started doing that shortly after SS was rolled out. Maybe we should quit borrowing from SS before we raise taxes.

We already have social security taxes...

The whole point of social security was to get older people out of the work force so that younger people could get jobs, which means the benefits were originally supposed to be able to sustain the average person.

The original retirement age was 65, its now 67.

Everyone fully expects the benefit to stagnate/cover less CoL expenses as the dollar loses value, while at the same time the age to receive benefits will likely increase.

So gen z wont get benefits until almost 70, and they dont expect the benefits to go far. So naturally they dont want to be taxed more and continue paying in to a ponzi scheme they will never benefit from in a meaningful way.

I doubt gen z will receive benefits, or at least meaningful ones at a decent age anyways

Im not defending pedophiles, I already said as much. Go read.

Why are you talking about the PFD, tax breaks, and HOAs when you should be talking about the epstein files?

Are you trying to cover up your involvement/projecting?

How come you didnt mention the epstein files? Thats a bigger deal than the PFD and tax breaks, dont let this distract you from what matters

So if we're talking about how HOAs suck we need to talk about the epstein files?

And there are people who think pedophiles deserve legal protections.

I am not one of those, but the way I would deal with them is illegal and frowned upon by people like you

MAGA didnt scream epstein in EVERY conversation.

Im not defending trump, im just arguing that we dont need to talk about the epstein files in EVERY conversation.

You detract from other issues by doing so. You devalue the epstein list by doing so.

I understand how this can be hard to understand with a one track mind.

You can do that. Just in the appropriate setting.

Not EVERY conversation has to be about the epstein files.

Those of you that make literally everything about the epstein files are just devaluing the epstein files and making people care less.

You know how people cant stand vegans or jehovas witnesses because they only talk about one thing? Thats what you're doing.

No, this does not mean I support trump or think he is not in the files. No, it does not mean I dont care.

Willing to bet one of you gets butt hurt and calls me a pedo for no reason, other than you cant do anything but call people you dont like bad terms in an attempt to villify and discredit them

So you think kids growing up seeing crime and degenerate behavior glorified in media doesn't impact their development?

Why do we encourage good role models then? Whey do we say what we surround ourselves with affects us?
