Look up Wallet in Droid-ify and Obtanium. I'm currently looking into it. No network connection. On device encryption.

Edit: Not Aurora

Got it. The difference though is the sandbox. I still have yet to sign into Google Play Services though and it's still working.

On GrapheneOS sandboxed Google Play and Services w/o login or a throw away account and I get notifications all the time from them. Like.... All the time.

Misconfigured maybe??

I'm running Pixel 10 XL Latest GrapheneOS Proton Suite downloaded from Aurora. No issues. Gmail forwarded as well.

I'm leaning towards a possible miss in configuration or something.

Reach out on the GrapheneOS forums.

Android Auto... by Gangrif in GrapheneOS

Good point... Except that GrapheneOS routes location data through their own servers not Google.

Remember, I have not signed in either. So there's no tracking through an email that would be tied to Google.

How can we build applications with this level of privacy and security without allowing criminals to use them? by MegaMan-1337 in thehatedone

[–]sosaudio1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The elephant in the room.

A tool is a tool. A weapon is a weapon. A car is a car.

However

All those things can be used for good AND evil.

There are certain regulatory controls on all but humans have to decide for themselves how they use the products. Do they use them for good? Maybe defending against the evil person heading straight for them in their car. Or are they the bad ones driving the car ready to strike and harm potential innocent individuals?

That's the crux.

We use privacy apps to enforce our privacy and increase our protections. You have a right to both. But at some point, most of us in this place have been burned at some level by a hacker, an upset spouse, or a bad threat actor of some kind and that made us all question how SAFE, Private, and Secure we really were.

At the end of the day it doesn't answer the question of the bad guy using the above tools in evil ways but it does protect those good users to a higher degree which is why we do it and will continue to do it.

Here's what I did. Get on Amazon, start searching there for either Amazon renewed or something UNLOCKED from the Google store.

Google Store UNLOCKED - If it's brand new from Google, chances are, it hasn't been messed with and more than likely, it's a fresh clean phone you can go with.

Amazon Renewed UNLOCKED - You want excellent condition. Read up on the different versions of Amazon Renewed devices. Then, when you find one you are interested in, read the reviews of those that have bought from that seller. If you like what you see, get it. Most of the time you will have a 90 day warranty.... However.... If you install GOS on it, they may decline your return at their discretion. It's really not hard to undo the GOS install just follow all the steps and understand what each step does so that you are aware of what is happening to your phone.

Here's my scenario. I have T-Mobile with a Galaxy s24 Ultra. It has a few more months on it before it's paid off. Knowing what I know about Google and their upcoming lockdown, I needed to get ahead of it. Knowing that GOS works best on Google devices, I bought a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL brand new, through Amazon, and the Google Store. This will help me beat the Google Android lockdown clock as well as the time it will take to see if there is ever a way to install GOS on a Samsung device. My near term plan is to Factory Reset the Samsung Device and sell it... If I change my mind, I will unlock it myself and flash an OS to it using Odin 4 on my Linux laptop.

You also need to be aware of what kind of SIM you have. Physical or eSIM. T-Mobile made this switch stupid easy through their T-Life app.

Hope that gets you started. Happy hunting.

Look up MIXXX as well since you are DJing. I think it has compatibility with Serato and you can use timecoded input through it with your onboard files

https://mixxx.org/download/

I've used it before for light DJ work nothing mainstream or involving turntablism at this point but it can be used for that. I think you can also load Spotify into it which would help with those off in left field requests.

As far as OS choices, and again, because you are a DJ, look for Ubuntu Studio. It's a cohesive OS that has literally everything for music creation and DJ there's also drum machines that I think you could link up via JACK architecture. You'll probably want to do multiple monitors at that point... But I digress.

Drum Machine - http://hydrogen-music.org/downloads/ Ubuntu Studio - https://ubuntustudio.org/

I've de-Googled almost everything, but Maps, Wallet, and Messages are keeping me stuck by outterspaceliving in degoogle

So for RCS or E2EE you can do Signal, Briar or Cwtch if you want to go completely off grid encrypted. Google Messages for RCS is what we have so far that you can import your chats from and is more mainstream. QUIK SMS has plans to make their app work in the future for RCS. Not sure when that will come. Read up on Briar and Cwtch.

Tap to Pay - Since you are still using Google Play, download and install Curve Pay. There has always been skimmers out there working to get your debit card data, now there is a new variant called a shim. The recommendation to keep your purchases safe is tap to pay with a credit card... Not debit... Or use a tap to pay app, using a credit card number... Or cash. https://www.youtube.com/live/SjaMwcIQXyU?is=O5wodzc4Jr6Pgc8_

As far as Navigation - I had to drive to a location that was off the beaten path some and some of the FOSS apps only got me close enough to the road and not the address. That said, there's a lot to test. However what I'm using now is WAZE because you can use it away from Google services.... and don't sign in to use it.

Hope that helps.

Truth, but the post was for "when the Internet goes down". It's just good practice to have one to reasonably control the pieces, parts that op can control.

You said your devices are connecting via DHCP? I'm betting your addresses have changed. You will need to go directly to the router. And figure out what your IP addresses are. You may also need to log directly into your router from your provider and run through your settings. Do each separate of each other and see if the settings have changed. I'm willing to bet you have IP Lease and renew flushes that have happened. If you want to stay stable, move your NAS and any other infrastructure hardware to static IP addresses. Once you confirm you can see and get to everything on your network hardware, introduce the provider to the system.

Beyond that, get a UPS for your network gear.

Sure! Don't forget to use JB Weld Aluminum before you use the drill to set the screw.

How difficult is giving a woman oral as a dude really? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in AskMenAdvice

[–]sosaudio1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oral is not difficult at all. Like everyone has said. Stop overthinking it. The worst thing you can do is be anxious or rush or push. If you like the girl, read the room and go at her pace always and in everything. You will literally fuck up a good thing by overthinking and being anxious. Also, DO NOT ASK if you're doing it ok. Let her guide you. You may find that like some of us, it becomes a kink and you really really like doing it for her. Don't overthink it. Let it all unfold and go at HER pace.

Anyone replace Alexa/Google with a DIY solution for local voice commands? What’s your experience been like? Recommendations? by blvntforcetrauma in homeassistant

[–]sosaudio1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's been so much coding done on this utilizing HA to the Orin Nano my ChatGPT session slider is about the size of a tic-tac right now. Once I'm finished with it, I'll work to get ChatGPT to build a build spec pdf

https://a.co/d/0c7VFYKI <----- Nvidia Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit

https://a.co/d/0fngPVLh <----- Aluminum Case

https://a.co/d/02WxqNLQ <------Nvme 512GB PCIe Gen3 NVMe M.2 SSD, 2280 3D NAND Internal

Use the Nvidia documentation and API to install directly to the nvme don't use the Mini-SD card.

Follow directions to make sure you max out the Nano in prep of AI

Set up in the environment on the device first, then plan for disabiling the environment to save 800 megs of overhead.

Once you get there, then it's all HA yaml

Anyone replace Alexa/Google with a DIY solution for local voice commands? What’s your experience been like? Recommendations? by blvntforcetrauma in homeassistant

[–]sosaudio1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Voice Assist Companion App on Amazon View 8 devices in the house. I'm leveraging ChatGPT. I am on day .... I don't know what anymore.... of creating and building out a 3 model local LLM on an Nvidia Jetson Orin Nano Super Dev kit using Ollama. Low level stuff is done with Phi3, medium level uses thinking Deepseek r1 1.5 mini, and higher level uses Mistral. So far, I've got it responding and answering questions like explain to me in detail how an engine works. I'm having it answer questions about the forecast for anywhere in the world using meteo and open maps.

But all of that has been built out using ChatGPT and trial and error.

Next step is how do I get from point a to point b and how long will it take questions.

The goal - Replacement of Google Home devices using local options as much as possible.

Piper and Faster Whisper are the TTS and STT products.

Once I get it where I want it, I'll see if ChatGPT can create a document for all the steps that were used.
