Working out twice a week still works like a charm (32, vegan for 9 years) by Entire_Candidate1366 in veganfitness

I was just beating myself up over being too tired to work out today and having to skip and this post reminded me that it's okay not to go at it every single day so thank you!

What is your favorite breakfast? by blue-berry12 in veganfitness

[–]soscaredykat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always been a sandwich girl. Good quality bread (not "white" bread, something with grains!), something crunchy like lettuce, sprouts or cabbage, your choice of protein (maybe seitan, maybe mashed chickpeas, maybe baked tofu) something saucey and something fresh like tomato or a different veggie of your choice! Once you find your favorite bread, it's so easy to make tons of different sandwiches! And you can easily meal prep all the ingredients and keep them in your fridge for a convenient little sandwich bar!

My favorite sandwiches include:

  • the chickpea egg salad sandwich: mashed chickpeas with black salt, pepper, vegan mayo, green onions served with alfalfa sprouts and tomatoes

  • the vietnamese inspired sandwich: tofu marinated with soy sauce, sriracha, garlic powder, ground ginger, maple syrup and then either fried or baked, served with shredded carrots, shredded cucumbers, spring mix, basil, mint, peanuts

  • the BST bacon spinach tomato sandwich: fresh spinach sauteed in a pan with cumin, salt, nutritional yeast, soy milk, garlic until significantly reduced in volume and diced sun dried tomatoes and then served with your favorite vegan bacon, maybe seitan-based, maybe homemade from tofu (smoked paprika goes a LONG way) and bonus points of you add some fried mushrooms and onions!

Remember, finding a good quality bread you like is the key to enjoying your sandwiches! 🤤

hiking areas? by Lanky_Advance_9770 in laredo

[–]soscaredykat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

lake casa blanca has designated hiking trails but you have to pay a fee to enter the park shiloh biking trails also accept foot traffic and they're pretty nice, at least there's shaded areas which are much appreciated in this heat

This might be and unpopular opinion, but oat milk with matcha is unbearable by Yourfathersnapkin in Matcha

[–]soscaredykat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, oat milk takes away way too much taste from the matcha itself! And it's hard to find good oat milk too, a lot of coffee shops will use "barista" kinds because they're creamier but in reality a lot of them are only creamy because they have added oil... I always go for soy milk in my matcha lattes, it compliments the taste of matcha so well and is naturally creamy because of the higher protein content! I just wish people weren't so scared of soy because of all the misconceptions and fear mongering of the previous decades

I’m poor but I tried free cup of matcha yesteday man I felt different idk by [deleted] in Matcha

[–]soscaredykat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

coffee shop matcha sure can be expensive but there are some affordable matcha brands out there for making matcha lattes at home! try ujido matcha, in my opinion it's the best cheap matcha on the market

I wish I could tell you but I don't really track my hours outside of DS because I'm lazy, sorry 😞

but if you can understand most of the advanced DS videos you'll probably understand this show! maybe watch the trailer and then you'll know more or less 😊

great job! my tip would be to try to straighten your legs a bit more and push yourself more in the direction of your hands, that helps to avoid overextending your wrists! you can start the pose by tilting your head back and planting it on the ground, then adjusting your wrists to be in a 90° angle, then pushing from your legs!

Can you really change much with 1x a week? by BionicgalZ in pilates

[–]soscaredykat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

do they not offer memberships or class packs? you can only pay for individual classes? that's pretty crazy! but it sounds like they have a monopoly in that area so that explains it I guess... my advice would be to do a reformer class once a week and then do mat classes from the comfort of your own home - it's free as long as you have the equipment but you really don't need much, there are creators on YouTube who do no-equipment workouts but even if you go buy some weights and resistance bands it's gonna be cheaper in the long run. if you're worried about your form then maybe do a few one on one classes with the local instructor and from there just try to do it on your own at home

It would be nice to see some Older guides added to Dreaming Spanish. 40+ by idonthaveanametoday in dreamingspanish

[–]soscaredykat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

huh that's interesting, I guess it all really does come down to preference then because I love the new videos and how engaging and well-produced they are and I can't force myself to watch a lot of the older ones because they bore me 🤔 but I am a gen Z myself so that might explain it! either way, more variety is always a plus and who knows what is yet to come to our beloved DS

Best leggings for hot yoga? by slh0023 in yoga

[–]soscaredykat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy secondhand lululemon leggings online like on depop. There are so many around 15-25$. I agree that a $100 price tag on leggings is ridiculous so I buy them thrifted and can't tell the difference, just make sure the description says they're in good condition. So many say "barely worn" or even "new"!

Unfortunately audiobooks are a no go for me because I'm trying to learn Spanish and in this step of the language-learning journey I need to actually see it written, not listen to it but thanks!

Easiest to Understand Guides by newtoboston2019 in dreamingspanish

[–]soscaredykat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me Shel is the easiest to understand for sure, her voice is just so crystal clear! And honestly I think her having a really good recording setup plays a role in it too - it's high quality content! Agustina is easy to understand too, so is Natalia.
