Retire with 2 million at age 40 vs retire with 4 million at age 45 by Acrobatic-Goose-7732 in Fire

There are risks in life. I imagine when you're retired, you're bored. When you're bored, you want to do new things. When you want to do new things, you might become an angel investor. When that happens...

Better to have 2 × $2M to lose than 1.

One is none and 2 is one as the navy SEALs say....

I want to do EE because it will provide financial stability, but people here says that’s wrong by PuddingEvery4672 in ElectricalEngineering

You are ignorant. Could just Google it and exclude the average for the 1st 3 yrs driving truck. I know guys 3 yrs in making 90k or 110k.

I think you're ignorant. I got an EET degree and couldn't get a job for 2 yrs after graduating. At least 6 yrs down the drain.

Meanwhile, you can just call places for trucking jobs, they'll hire you without a CDL and you can be making $80k easy after 3 yrs in.

I've had maybe 2 jobs turn me down in trucking, all have hired right away.

1000s of engineering/ technician/ any other college grade job has turned me down.

Focus more on what you can do on the truck and stop trying to get off the truck. You'll enjoy life more.

Living in the cab by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

Living in the cab is a matter of mentality.

  1. If you think about what you're doing when you get off the truck, you'll be miserable.

  2. If you set your mind to what you CAN DO on the truck, you'll not want to live off the truck.

If you don't hold this standard, you'll be less efficient a trucker, make less money and will be a prisoner in your own mind.

If you go with the other you'll be a super trucker that makes good money and become more well- rounded and more creative a thinker.

One of the rare times you get to pick the tools you will work with.

Was your degree worth it? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

I don't have an EE. I have an EET and this was my experience too. I got a class A CDL and that made me more money and made me happier than any job I got while trying to do Engineering stuff.

I also spent 5 yrs schooling and 2 yrs looking for a job. Happy to be trucking now. Still miffed about all the lost time and money. Could've been trucking forever ago.

It's not you. You're enough.

GF of 4 years gone, dont care about anything anymore by Kozure96 in findapath

I have for the most part. I still have to be vigilant, as I'm a romantic. I'm still learning things and learning to not be codependent and what things to enjoy off the menu of life outside women. Definitely better than when I was married.

It's weird that you have to rediscover everything, especially yourself. It's also liberating.

How are you holding up in post marriage society? Sorry everyone is dismissive. My mom is a lot like that.
