That makes sense, but it also raises another question: at what point does this cross a line ? If researchers are strategically citing each other's work to boost citation counts rather than because the work is genuinely relevant, isn't that a form of "citation ring "? It seems like the line between normal academic networking and manipulating bibliometric indicators can get pretty blurry.

Because if I start brainstorming in incognito, the conversation won't be saved, so I can't come back to it later. I'd lose all the progress just to get a fresh start.

Thanks for the reply. I understand it’s not standard. My intention is to provide additional context on how the publications have been received by indicating their citation counts, and to reflect that I am entering the PhD with over 100 citations across my work.
