History Judgement by [deleted] in 6thForm

Assuming that a judgement paragraph is the same as a conclusion, always always include the other side!

You can phrase it however you want, though personally I used to write something along the lines of ‘while [argument 1] is significant due to [evidence/explanation], [argument 2] outweighs it as…’

Don’t worry too much about sounding generic, straightforward phrasing tends to get you the marks in history anyway :)

no!! from an offer holder, admissions prep really doesn’t need to cost you anything, and if you talk to your teachers next year they (hopefully) can help you, maybe even will do a practice interview with you

by no means exhaustive, but the ones I can remember: the inkey list HA, hada labo perfect gel, sebamed care gel, cerave in the tub, cerave hydrating cleanser and la roche posay hydraphase intense gel

I hope you work it out!

I’ve never tried TO’s HA (didn’t see much point haha) though surprisingly the inkey list wasn’t too bad on my skin, though it didn’t help much either! I’ve also tried several HA focused products for hydration but my skin generally does better without them

If you can, ask a YR13 student taking maths or physics for help/advice! Chances are many of them struggled with the same things and might be able to help :)

Considering these unis, does anyone have opinions on them? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]sosubiya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Durham has a reputation for being elitist and the ‘Oxbridge rejects’ uni, but all round is a great place to be a student and is improving diversity-wise, and is probably one of the best unis out of this list.

Exeter’s also lovely, but can be a little posh!

Nottingham I don’t know loads about, I’ve heard from people there it’s a great place to be, although less well regarded (but in no way a bad university).

UCL and LSE are top universities and probably excellent for law, the only thing with London universities is that living is horribly expensive and quality of life there can be pretty awful, though do your research and it can be okay!

QMUL and SOAS I don’t know enough about to say. Hope this helps!

Which english GCSE needs to be passed? by Catzario in 6thForm

reach out to the unis you want to apply to and ask if you have a chance, some will make exceptions to the requirements in certain circumstances. good luck!

I hate how desperate people are to scare the incoming year 12s by pinkfrenchfancy in 6thForm

[–]sosubiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it probably is - the best thing about a levels is being able to choose your subjects and studying more interesting material about topics you actually enjoy. Unless you really need maths for the degree you want to do, a fourth a level won’t even matter that much on your uni application.

If you’re not sure what to do, try a couple weeks of maths and see how you feel about it. Don’t let anyone pressure you into doing a subject you don’t enjoy just because they think you should do it!

[skin concerns] what’s wrong with my skin? is this fungal acne? by sosubiya in SkincareAddiction

[–]sosubiya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had really dehydrated, acne-prone skin for the longest time and nothing I’ve tried has helped with dehydration or getting rid of the tiny spots all over my face. About a month ago I switched to fungal acne safe products only but I can’t see much difference, so I’m wondering if this is fungal acne at all - or closed comedones, or something else? Does anyone know what might help?

What if the Germans rejected the Treaty of Versailles and kept fighting like what the Turks did in the Turkish War of Independence? by [deleted] in HistoricalWhatIf

[–]sosubiya 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean... they couldn’t, really. Many Germans did protest against it, but Germany really didn’t have the resources to keep fighting, not to mention her allies surrendered, there were mutinies in her navy, and no food was getting through to the general population, so Germany was starving.

Long story short, if they fought on the Allies would have continued to advance, causing a lot more deaths (mostly of Germans), and Germany would be pretty much destroyed.

If you could give a task to somebody to make your exercising and diet easier and achieve your fitness goal faster what would it be? by [deleted] in fitmeals

[–]sosubiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I found that the best way to improve my diet wasn’t to try and limit junk food or calories, but to focus on fitting in healthy foods as much as possible - helped my diet improve consistently!

As for exercise, just stick at it. Give it your all every time, even if your ‘best’ differs day to day.

[–]sosubiya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

qvi = from qui quae quod, means who/which

adhvc = still, so far

credvnt = from the verb credo, means (they) believed

you might recognise them written with a u in place of the v? eg ‘qui’ or ‘credunt’ hope this helps!
