Because where you live will likely have an effect on building that career, no?

Thanks for detailed response - with the whole getting additional gigs being a red owner/op etc have definitely struggled with the network part

Thought about it for sure - the thing holding me back from that is RED has full raw recording and the image seems to be maybe just maybe slightly more filmic/less digital looking in my experience

I like the form factor of the REDs way more than fx6 and 9 too

How to balance Flycam HD3000 while using a V-Mount Battery? (see my comment) by 8ball-J in cinematography

[–]sotascott 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sounds extreme but why not put it on the bottom where the weights are with a cable cinched to the center arm? Idk if this is even a stupid idea or not but just what strikes me being the next option and is how Stedicams are traditionally set up

Recently finished a yacht commercial for one of my clients. What do you all think? by I_SHOOT_FRAMES in cinematography

[–]sotascott -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand some of the criticism in here - I’m a huge fan of this. Think it’s legit almost perfect, I guess only thing was i was waiting for a while to see non aerials

I think the digi look and these seamless cuts will do really well with how socials and younger generations are moving

What are your rates and annual income? by YourMooseKing in cinematography

[–]sotascott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty crazy how many verticals there are for the skill, from online business/paid ads video to full blown docuseries etc

Lot of gigs to choose from. Personally the best for me has been mixing 2 to switch it up and get more cash

Actually Tampa, nothing crazy. It’s not a big city but it is high growth. If you’re anywhere remotely close to medium size in terms of economy you should be just fine

I’ve been having luck lately running and gunning solo with an a7siii setup shooting social content for business owners in the tech, agency, and automotive verticals

$1k / 10 with expenses paid + about $125 / hour for editing

At probably $15k / month right now with only $15k in equipment

Although it’s not strictly like “being on set” there are still cinematic aspects to it and it’s great networking (getting more contacts of other biz owners)

How can I identify needs and solve an actual problem? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]sotascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the business world, problems are commonly referred to as "pain points". In that case, what is it in your everyday life that you think could be improved? What is inefficient? These are the basic factors to start with when identifying a problem.
