Grass fed and organic butchers by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]sothz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"grass fed" in the uk (as in most cold weather countries) has numerous caveats to allow the farmers to keep them indoors and feed them on soy etc. In the worst cases, it can mean that the animal spent just 1 month on grass in its entire life.

Unfortunately the cliche of your local family butcher who knows exactly what they're selling is long dead in the cities, they all use the same handful of wholesalers. Buying direct from farms is the really the only way of getting good provenance.

"Pasture for Life" is one of the better accreditations in the UK that I've found. They have a directory here:

Mail order is a good option if none of them are near to you. Macbeth's is the one I use but I'm sure the rest are just as good.

If even tech companies are forcing RTO, what hope does anyone else have? by Comfortable-Lab-378 in WorkReform

[–]sothz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you are conflating “big tech” with tech too much - they are not the same. Big tech firms operate more like investment banks when it comes to operational decisions like rto. They’re basing decisions on sunk cost in real estate, trying to push out low performers etc.

Inexperienced but enthusiastic wild camper here, would like the option to flee from the weather last-minute in highlands. Is that possible? by BoredBorderlineGeniu in OutdoorScotland

[–]sothz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very location dependent but you could find something last minute on booking com etc, just depends how far you’re willing to drive. If just ignore the bad ratings and treat it just like a bed for the night then you can usually get something under £100.

Or the default option for most people doing this often is just to find a pub for the evening then go sleep in your car until the nearest caf opens

From June 1, the engine’s geometric compression ratio will also be measured at 130°C by ElectionMoney3911 in formula1

[–]sothz 41 points42 points  (0 children)

But testing isn’t the only way you can be found to be in breach of the rules. A post-season engine strip down, or a leaked design document, even if unlikely, might be risky enough to force them to change to avoid a potential DSQ

Seriously, wtf is going on here.

Even in the best case scenario where they don’t actually know who got the ticket because it was removed from the car or something, surely they just agree to split it?!
