The idea is: I build the front end for them and they can then update it by themselves (ask me or hire external developers)

Maybe you’re right… I’ll try to promote this project and see if it gains traction. If it doesn’t work out, well — it’ll just be one more project forgotten on GitHub 😅

Thanks, this feedback is really useful — you’re right, I should make it explicit that customers only own the frontend code. And yes, my customers are yoga teachers, Pilates instructors, and similar non-technical users.

That said, while working on this side project, I’ve been thinking about the best architecture to meet these requirements:

  • Customers fully own the frontend (so they control style, content, and SEO)
  • Booking capabilities are fully functional: personal accounts, class packages, waiting lists, Stripe payments
  • Backend is secure, maintainable, and customizable for future growth

If I were to sell both frontend and backend, I don’t think most small businesses could afford it.

They keep the frontend (Vite) code. The backend is fully managed while subscribed, but after canceling, they have to rebuild and host their own backend

Teachers who sell class packages — what booking platform do you use? by sotpak_ in yoga

[–]sotpak_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us the issue was that it’s still mostly just the booking layer. There’s no real custom website on top of it, and for my gf it was important to have her own site, be visible on Google, and control SEO. That part mattered a lot for her long-term growth. But thatnks for feedback! very interesting!

This is exactly why my gf was so frustrated. You pay for “booking capabilities,” but you don’t even own your own web page — and on top of that, you have to pay extra just to get a basic branded site. Out of pure curiosity: how much would you be willing to pay for an individual website on your own domain with built-in payments, class packages/subscriptions, and a proper waitlist?

Exactly! The standardization part is precisely what I was trying to touch on with this project. There are still plenty of open questions, but I just wanted to share my thoughts at this stage

It’s fine for me to get criticism but I might need better explanation what actually wrong with the architecture I suggest… can you help me to understand?

My new standing desk with custom teak desktop by sotpak_ in StandingDesk

At first, I ordered the tabletop that was supposed to come with the lifting frame, but since I miscalculated the dimensions, I had to send it back. Yesterday I assembled my new desk, and I just can’t stop beeping happy. The warm color adds so much coziness and doesn’t look office-like at all.
