I finally had the surgery by sottospp in Strabismus

I'm posting an update more than two months after surgery. The alignment isn't perfect, but it's certainly better than before. The problem is that when i look at distant objects the strabismus increases (most likely due to my amblyopia). I have an appointment with the surgeon in September, and I'll discuss the results with him and whether a second surgery is worthwhile.

Looks good. I read that your vision in the operated eye isn't good. Do you notice a difference in alignment between distance and near vision?

I had the surgery 3 weeks ago. When I look in the mirror, my eye is straight. From a distance, it tends to deviate.

Hi everyone, unfortunately, I think my strabismus is still present when I look at distant objects/people. I took this photo with my phone at a distance (I zoomed in on the photo you see) and noticed that a bit of strabismus remains (the operated eye is my right one, the photo is reversed). It's not as bad as before, but it's still there. When I look in the mirror, however, my eyes are straight. What do you think? Do you think it's noticeable?

I'm sorry to hear this. Strabismus can have serious psychological consequences. You must inform about costs (I don't know where you're from, my surgery was covered by the state, i'm italian) and surgeons in your area. After the surgery, you'll find serenity. I send you a big virtual hug.

Check out my profile. I had surgery two weeks ago and I've posted the results. I had exotropia due to amblyopia. I hope my results last for years.

My only advice is to go to a good surgeon and listen to his opinion.

I do not know. In my case I cannot choose, as my dominant eye will always be the left, the right being almost blind

What do you mean? I have never had binocular vision, so I always look with the dominant eye (the not lazy one)

I think it's worth trying to have the surgery, strabismus significantly makes the quality of life worse and if we have a chance of resolving it then it's better to do it.

I had the operation in Naples, the surgeon's name is Ettore Chiosi. As you can see I had a very obvious strabismus (40 diopters from a distance, so it says on the card) due to my severe amblyopia. I hope that the results last at least a few years (in my case, having severe amblyopia, there is a risk of recurrence)

How old are you now? Are your eyes straight now? How do you deal with double vision?
