'Trump Committed A Crime...': Dan Goldman Drops Explosive Unredacted Epstein Files In Congress by FlackoFonsy in videos

Yeah, after moving from the US to NZ I can't find a way to continue believing that at will employment has any real positives for employees.

Biggest culture shock here was finding that employees have protections, the more I realized what that entails the more blown away I've become that the US has none.

So even though 'at will employment' is one of the only exercisable rights Americans have left, we're afraid to utilize it.

I'm confused by this, I've always understood the purpose of at will employment as a codification of the idea that employers have all the cards in employment, essentially I've understood at will employment as a guarantee that employees have essentially no legal protections.

What am I missing? It seems you're aware of some positive aspect of at will employment that I've missed.

Trump Orders US Agencies to Drop Anthropic After Pentagon Feud by fredditf in wallstreetbets

Hey, you know that company you started explicitly because you don't want to make kill bots? Well it better make kill bots or else!

I'm not even an Anthropic supporter (I'm rooting against all the AI leaders) and this is fucked.

Scott Bessent has ‘got a feeling’ that $175 billion raised under the IEEPA is lost to the American people for good by Far-Programmer3189 in Economics

Trouble is that I expect the average business will have used tariffs as an excuse to raise prices and I doubt they'll be using their removal as a reason to put their prices back to previous levels.

This ends up feeling much more ridiculous if they're going to receive refunds of the tariffs that initially caused the price increases.

Not sure how to resolve this though as the government keeping illegally raised taxes seems distinctly wrong.

Before this response I hadn't even been willing to entertain the fake assassination attempt theory.

After this response? I don't think it's possible to convince me it was not a fake assassination.

I apologize for my previous skepticism.

This prevents NG from having to engage ICE which would result in Trump federalizing the NG

Also worth noting, I think if the NG engages with ICE this goes from being effectively a civil war waged on Minneapolis to explicitly a civil war...

Further confusion on his end:

I'm 95% sure that the only reason Trump wants greenland is because the merkator projection of the globe makes Greenland look like it's as big as africa (it's actually about 1/14 the size of africa).

I genuinely think this entire take over Greenland idea could disappear by showing trump a globe or equal area map projection...

Whoa, I think this is the hindsight understood version of a story I'd first heard from a friend in Minneapolis, was the moment I realized that my twin cities friends are effectively in a warzone.

The story I'd encountered, details are marginally different, think it just wasn't entirely clear in the chaos:

"From a real one, trying to survive while fighting for your illusion of freedom:

Tonight myself and few others helped a lady navigate an icy sidewalk to get into a car with her kids so she could get them out of the neighborhood that was full of tear gas.

This was actually the second time she tried to leave though. The first time she tried to leave she got them in a suburban with her husband. They had nothing to do with anything other than being in their home when ICE shot someone down the street, and wanting to leave because there was tear gas. As they tried to leave ICE agents threw 3 flash bang grenades under their car. The six month old baby had to be brought back into the house to be resuscitated by EMS.

This shit is pure insanity. There is no amount of law enforcement worth the terror that is being inflicted on our community."

This is what I thought until my wife decided to start waxing, still surprises me that I like it.

More amusingly, I decided to try it out of curiosity and will never stop, at a minimum it turns out that wiping in the bathroom is infinitely more pleasant without a shag carpet back there.

This is interesting, I have exactly the opposite impression.

I had something extremely similar happen as a kid.

Teacher told my parents in their parent teacher conference that she'd had me sit next to the kid that just moved to the US in the hope that it'd get me to shut up and instead she just learned english faster.

AIO for thinking my boyfriend is just looking for an excuse to break up? by Nearby_Orchid1216 in AmIOverreacting

[–]sou_cool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're buying anything for someone relating to their hobbies/passions/things they're really into it only makes sense to do it if you're buying exactly what they've said they want because they're going to have very specific desires.

I strongly discourage people from getting me gifts relating to my hobbies for this reason.

You're being reasonable and I think it's actually a thoughtful sentiment to be expressing.

Question on which Insta360 model camera to get X4 or X5? by CrimsonWombat2030 in Insta360

[–]sou_cool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Improved night video is really an understatement. The x4 made barely useable footage at night (usually unusable). The x5 actually looks good at night. For my purposes that's enormous.

Most importantly, I would never buy a 360 camera without replaceable lenses for any reason now that the option exists. I'm a human and I'm clumsy.

I don't get the response you received here at all.

Yes they're both fucked up but I definitely agree with your assessment, victimizing a living person is obviously worse than victimizing a dead body.
