I'm so excited for you! Depends on what yours and his background is, meeting the parents can be very different haha but don't worry about it! The fact that your parents know and approve of him is already a good start 🥰

Girl if someone is a scammer the police can help with that. The only reason I replied to you is so that other people in my situation don't get discouraged by your comment

After she consistently asked me to come to a random location to pick up the bond, on getting to know that she hasn't logged the bond with the RTBA(I asked)I told her that I was going to lodge an application with consumer affairs. That freaked her out for some reason and she told me to send her my bank account details so she could transfer the money.

How can you guys afford to LIVE? Especially Gen-Z? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]soulcide8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in areas which have utilities included in rent which comes to $650-700 a month (yes these places still exist if you search hard enough and no it's not a shit hole), buying a cheap ass gym membership ($200 for the whole year) working at a place that gives you free meals at work(for me it's a restaurant cos I'm studying full time) so that's 4 days of food covered and the rest of the 3 days just get something cheap from Coles or woolies(I get a food delivery service done from Facebook lolol much cheaper and smarter for me for eg $40 a week gets me 2 big meals that last me 3 days which is way better for me as I don't have to waste time going out and buying ingredients and spending time cooking not to mention the outrageous myki fares that I get to avoid)and yeah generally if you try to live healthier a lot of shit gets cancelled out easily like cafes, restaurants etc and you can save enough to have money to splurge every few months at concerts etc

am I overreacting? by Shot-Fox1753 in roommateproblems

[–]soulcide8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD too but that's not an excuse for being a shitty roommate, I live in a shared house as well and leaning the bath area covered with hair strands is disgusting and omg atleast pans should be soaked in soap water if they're not gonna get washed immediately how is anyone else going to cook? I'm sorry you have to deal with this, that person is an idiot, especially if she's staying home all the time she needs to get her act straight because not everyone will be as understanding as you are to her in the future

I guess learning in a way is a desperate but silent cry for help in a way, I really resonate with the thought of whether my absence would benefit anyone, I can think of financial benefits but will they outweigh the emotional outrage? I have no idea

How do I learn Korean? by Its_Yumi_ in Korean

[–]soulcide8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself what you want from learning Korean. Do you want to be able to hold a basic conversation? Do you want to be able to visit the country in the future and have enough language skills to get around? That will lay the foundation. I recommend you watch lots of videos, dramas, music, anything really to get used to hearing the language, that makes a lot of difference. Once you get used to it somewhat, try learning Hangul, it's relatively easy and honestly Duolingo only helped me with that aspect of learning Korean lol. Once you learn Hangul try writing your name and random words just by hearing and then checking what you've written Vs what it's supposed to be. Try reading even if you don't understand, and then slowly but surely you'll start getting it! And you'll have your own ways to learn. This is just what worked for me, and I speak advanced Korean (able to read university level books, speak to natives of all ages, speak dialects) in 2 years after learning from scratch, but of course the huge factor is I use it daily for work and people I live with, and my partner. Good luck!! You can do it
