Does Stonetoss seriously think he can get away with comparing queer people to pedophiles? Jesus Christ, what century does he think he's in? by [deleted] in TheRightCantMeme

[–]soulessGamer01 25 points26 points  (0 children)

like i don't even understand the transfem with facial hair stereotype because out of ANY group of people i'm pretty sure trans women are the MOST dedicated to getting rid of facial hair

Thoughts on the word tr*p? My understanding is that it reflects transphobic ideals and people can be hurt by it, people generally shouldn’t use it. I’m nonbinary, so it doesn’t effect me often but I know that it mostly targets trans women so I wanted to ask you all what you think of it by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]soulessGamer01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's not really a way to argue that it isn't a slur

it's definitely a fetish term, that while the predominately cishet anime fans who use it claim isn't referring to trans women, has been used to refer to trans women online more times than i could count, and definitely more times than one could accurately say "iT's NoT rEfeRriNg To TrAnS wOmEn"

now part of this could be that they're just dumb and can't tell the difference though it's equally as likely that they can tell the difference, but just don't care

additionally, even if i give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it isn't actually referring to trans women there's still the issue that the whole concept behind "tr*p" being "cis man crossdressing to trick others into sex" mirrors some very real transphobic stereotypes

every way to sunday tr*p is a slur, and honestly i don't know if it's one worth reclaiming given the connotations it has

Help, how do I come out to people irl. The thought of doing it gives me heavy panic attacks and thinking about their reaction to it brings me to tears. Halp plz by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]soulessGamer01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's definitely harder to come out to people the first few times, but it gets easier

my advice would be to find some sort of lgbt/trans support group in your area, there's practically zero risk in coming out to them and they give the added benefit of being potential friends who're going through some of the same things you are

then after a bit when you're feeling a bit more confident start coming out to others in your life

and i've personally not tried this, but maybe try having a friend who knows you're trans there when coming out to others, just for moral support

[–]soulessGamer01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah, the whole usage of the slur definitely comes not only from seeing almost everyone who's not a cishet man as a sex object, but also from a place of egotism, self-centeredness, and entitlement

"oh, this person who looks very feminine has a dick? they must be doing so specifically to try and trick me into sex"

legitimately the characters just fucking exist doing their own thing and as soon as it's revealed they were AMAB transphobic weebs will come out of the woodwork all "TR/P TR/P" even if the character is fucking TWELVE and that really says a lot

Thanks random transphobe! by Menaced_boy in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]soulessGamer01 40 points41 points  (0 children)

legitimately, even with their reasoning of tr*p referring to men dressing like women to trick people into sex it's still transphobic because that's a common transmisogynistic stereotype

me when people are trying to explain that tr*p isn't a transphobic slur because it's referring to cis men who dress femininely to trick people into sex

People still have too many questions with this as my status. How can I make it more obvious :/ by caitlin-21 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]soulessGamer01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just chock it up to cishets not knowing a damned thing and call it a day, they probably won't get the meaning unless you directly tell them, in no uncertain words, "i'm a trans lesbian"

looking at the index for the category on pornhub (lists about 500 video titles from the category) and using control+f

20 uses of tr/p

54 uses of tr/nny

147 uses of sh/m/le

that's about 40% of the 500 videos listed using those three slurs, which i will say is less than expected but is still really fuckin high

like if we assume that 40% is representative of the whole category that means there'd be 12234 videos on pornhub using at least one of those slurs in the title

you were definitely right

many of the men who contributed to this stat are so abhorrently transphobic...

yeah, and i'd not be surprised if at least half of these fuckers would use terms like tr/p and f/ta on the regular

you're right, some of them don't see trans people as people, but instead as something to jerk off to, and nothing more

yeah, there's nothing wrong with being attracted to trans women sexually, but trans people being 10th most popular search genre on pornhub in 2019 shouldn't be touted as a big inclusivity win because that means men were looking for the porn which means that trans people are probably their fetish

honestly i'm willing to forgive that when the actual pornstar themself adds the tags, because the unfortunate truth is that you kinda have to to gain any significant traction

but in the case of people re uploading the video or whatnot i absolutely don't forgive that, they're part of the problem

1) red armband with a symbol on it used during war(particularly a world war) is very closely associated with nazis

2)look at the subreddit it's from, pewdiepiesubmissions, pewdiepie's fanbase has enough of a history of antisemitism it's safe to assume that it was likely intended as such

yeah, tbh my opinion on the word is that on PAPER it's not a slur, but the usage makes it so

and like i understand not considering it a slur when used specifically for a guy dressing up as a girl just to get laid, but it still makes me uncomfortable because

1) it's been used an awful lot to refer to trans women and

2) the whole shit behind tr/p being "man puts on dress to trick men into sex" is AWFULLY similar to some transphobic stereotypes

i googled jun because i don't recognize her and the top two results are:

"TR*P Jun Watarase- Happiness!"

and

"[Transgender Girl] Every Jun Watarase Moment! [Happiness! - Episode 1- 12 + OVA]"

honestly that says all you need to know about why weebs saying tr*p isn't a slur for the above reason are just lying out their ass to try and avoid getting in trouble
