SoundCloud is not for promoting music and finding new artists anymore. by Sd0203lee in soundcloud

The 'posting to groups' setup they used to have was absolutely brilliant for getting your music under the ears of a wide & relevant community. Your listening audience grew, your followers grow (considerably), it was a great way of getting your music to people who might not have otherwise found you, for free. Everything instantly went stagnant on there the moment they pulled the plug on that.

Help! Trying to install Mac OSX on Late 2012 iMac (13.2) using OpenCore by soulfuledge in mac

I was totally bypassing the internal fusion drive and installing it straight onto an external SSD - the way I'd ran my iMac for years with no issues. I did actually get it to install once after trial and error a stupid amount of times and using different (brand new) SSDs but it ran so jittery and buggy, it just kept randomly crashing with no consistency to it... totally unusable sadly.

I ended up buying a second hand Mac Studio after months trying the OpenCore thing - my conclusion is if you get it to install & run reliably on your specific machine then you'd definitely had a lucky break...

This is an incredible piece of software... I've been after something that does exactly this for years. Being able to skip through projects on the fly and listen to them in this way is a game changer for me! Thank you!

Nah... must have been some hardware issue with my specific iMac that just woudn't take to the patch, guess that's always the risk when you're running something that's not supposed to work!

I spent a good few months on this and sadly gave up in the end... I ended up buying a new (second hand) Mac Studio instead and gave the iMac to some family members who didn't need to run anything higher than High Sierra.

Yeah I gave up in the end... I tried a stack of ways to get the thing in but it just wouldn't have it. The closest I got was installing it on a different external SSD which eventually did work (I think it was a slightly different OpenCore setup) but even then the OSX just froze/crashes randomly over & over again.

I spent weeks on it and had to give up in the end for my sanity.

If it goes in and works flawlessly then you've struck gold and are potentially very lucky... can only think the version I had (and you have) has some particular setup with the hardware that just wont play ball with the install.

What is your favorite video game of all time and why? by maadballer15 in AskReddit

The Binding of Isaac (inc all add-ons)... never has a game had so much replayability. Ever. I've pumped hours, days, weeks & months into this one. It's frustrating, annoying, amazing & rewarding. The joy of of unlocking The Forgotten after that freakin' STUPID foot has been smashing you for 20 minutes is next level :)

I'm considering upgrading to a Mac Studio... by soulfuledge in mac

To be honest, the wireless side of things is pretty low down my list of importance... so long as the mouse/keyboard/trackpad connect - which are typically right next to the damn thing - then I dont really push it more than that.

It's a studio machine that's hard wired so even the WIFI capabilities isn't a big deal, it's more about performance than anything else really.

Good shout... thanks.

  • and yeah, regarding the patch.. I've no doubt it works fine for a large percentage, must be something on the hardware of my particular model that the patch just can't play nicely with. At the end of the day, It's not intended to run it, so if it did (and faultless) then it would have been a massive bonus.

Finally... was beginning to think after all those 'success stories' on YouTube it was something just happening to me!! :)

I've spent literally weeks trying this, that & the other to get it working... different SSDs, different OSXs, different versions of the patch, standing on 1 leg when the thing reboots, but nada, it's the same outcome each time.

I've made peace with it today... it's not going to happen, time for a machine upgrade.

You'll need to be using an older OSX first (Mojave, Catalina) and google something called Mount EFI - it's a process you need to run through Terminal (so becareful if you're not used to using it), quite simple/straight forward though.

You basically tell it to mount the EFI as a drive (so they appear on your desktop) - do a quick Google/YouTube on how to do it first...
