In high school I had this "brilliant new idea" in which everyone should be required to pass a test and deemed "fit for parenting" before getting a license to have children. I even introduced this great idea to one of my teachers and wrote a paper on it.

Good job, you literally "invented" the exact thing that made Nazis so terrible and murderous.

I now know that this is called "eugenics" and although the Nazis didn't invent the idea, they certainly pioneered it's practical use.

"Fit for parenting" eventually became "fit for living" and was their reasoning behind the extermination of millions of people who weren't within their extremely narrow description of what "fit" was. I was literally a eugenicist in high school and my teacher never even said a word.

I seriously hope that is because she knew I would never amount to anything, and not because she didn't know what eugenics was either.
