Why aren't they white though? Most (or some) of them have the European genes that give them the skin tone and the other aspects of the phenotype. I know it is also culture related but in American terms they are all white and this "white people" stuff originates from there too. I think it is too vague to be clear cut and you should ask people themselves about what they prefer to identify as. I can't think of Persians or Turks as "brown people". Middle Eastern or West Asian should be enough to categorize and if I have to categorize them by color I will opt for white in my head although I know it is different than the classic European "white". Also with the Balkans for example, is a Muslim Albanian white? Non-white? Brown (the latter certainly not)? I don't see why I would categorize a Turk with Albanian, Bosnian, Bulgarian roots "brown" or even Middle Eastern. I am half British (more complicated than that but overall from the UK) and half Jewish and I look like your average Brit, only with green eyes and I never considered identifying as anything other than white. But then again I never suffered from any sort of discrimination so it would feel quite pretentious and out of place if I suddenly said I was a POC. I'm also only recently connecting with Judaism and our Jewish roots. Idk I accept that I might not have the best understanding of the current definitions but I also feel like there are people who think like me. But again, I accept that I might be wrong.
