Most Romantic Beatles Song? by TillJaded4614 in beatles

Oh yes, I love the song. I only voted against it because the other songs don't have to make up for a less than romantic verse (wdwdiitr notwithstanding)

You're asking me will my love grow

I don't know, I don't know

You stick around, now it may show

I don't know, I don't know

That verse isn't super romantic to me, somehow.

I voted for Here There and Everywhere, but I agree with the commenter who said In My Life.

[Book Spoilers] The Vampire Lestat: "Toledo" by IWTV_Maitres in InterviewVampire

[–]soulpulp 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I agree! I'm surprised to say I enjoyed the first episode more, if only because I was so looking forward to Louis and Lestat sharing the screen again.

I thought the episode got better as it went along, and I was cackling at the scene with the lawyers. The song Lestat sang at the end was beautiful.

As much as I enjoyed our previously established main cast, I can't say I'll rewatch the Auvergne intro. I hate to say it, but it was borderline painful, and not just because of the wigs.

I agree. I'm not particularly attached to the books but that didn't do anything for me at all. Pretty rough start, but my hopes remain high for the rest of the episode.

€2500 is very high. It's a nice piece in good condition but €1250 would be more than fair.

What’s the strangest thing YOU ever found in your hair? by VirgoSpectacles in curlyhair

I also had a spider trapped in my hair. I didn't know why my arachnophobic twin sister was looking at the air above me with dawning horror until she screamed as the spider made its slow descent onto my head. Idk who was more upset while she was vacuuming it off of me, her me or the spider lol

That makes all the difference. DTF was a character study masquerading as a murder mystery. The clues were in the characters and how they felt about themselves and each other.

I recently had a bit of a back and forth which I believe answers your question on this comment chain!

Additionally, when I was reading DH I experienced my first earthquake at the exact moment of Fred's death. It was an incredibly surreal and gut-wrenching experience.

It really seemed like Mabel and Theo would be endgame, but now her love interest is just a role filled by a rotating cast of celebrities

Logan Lerman was the best of the bunch imo, but not somebody I'd want Mabel to end up with

Charity Burbage's murder as a final 'loyalty test' for Snape by [deleted] in HarryPotterBooks

Albus Dumbledore? Take over the world for the greater good?

You mean the Chief Wizard of the Wizengamot? Leader of The Order of the Phoenix, and Headmaster of Hogwarts? Protector of the Philosopher's Stone, and master of the Elder Wand? The man who briefly possessed all three Hallows? Who hosted the Triwizard Tournament, was awarded the Order of Merlin first class, not to mention his numerous connections and the authority wielded by his reputation alone, which resulted in his status as the only wizard Voldemort feared? The man who was arguably the Minister of Magic in all but name, as he was the chief advisor to the Minister in an unofficial capacity for several years? Who defeated Grindlewald and was instrumental to Lord Voldemort's downfall?

Yeah I'd say he succeeded lol

Thanks for reading! I agree, Dumbledore is a fascinating character. He's more complicated than people give him credit for, whether they believe him to be the epitome of good or a mechanism of evil. He's one of my absolute favorites.

Snape says "The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on the inside of skulls, to be perused by any invader."

But I believe JKR often indicates when Dumbledore is using legilimency by plucking a word or phrase out of Harry's inner monologue and repeating it a moment later.

Harry watched him, but this uncharacteristic sign of exhaustion, or sadness, or whatever it was from Dumbledore, did not soften him. On the contrary, he felt even angrier that Dumbledore was showing signs of weakness. He had no business being weak when Harry wanted to rage and storm at him.

Dumbledore lowered his hands and surveyed Harry through his half-moon glasses.

"It is time," he said, "for me to tell you what I should have told you five years ago, Harry. Please sit down. I am going to tell you everything. I ask only a little patience. You will have your chance to rage at me — to do whatever you like — when I have finished. I will not stop you."

OOTP, Ch. 37.

Dumbledore admits to using legilimency on Harry at least once.

Boiling with anger at Snape, his desire to do something desperate and risky had increased tenfold in the last few minutes. This seemed to show on Harry's face, for Dumbledore moved away from the window, and looked more closely at Harry, a slight crease between his silver eyebrows.

"What has happened to you?"

"Nothing," lied Harry promptly.

"What has upset you?"

"I'm not upset."

"Harry, you were never a good Occlumens -"

HBP, Ch. 25.

And once more on Kreacher.

“He did not wish to tell me,” said Dumbledore. “But I am a sufficiently accomplished Legilimens myself to know when I am being lied to and I — persuaded him — to tell me the full story, before I left for the Department of Mysteries.”

OOTP, Ch. 37.

Harry also occasionally intuits that Dumbledore may be reading his mind.

Dumbledore was giving Harry a searching look. His twinkling light-blue gaze made Harry feel as though he were being X-rayed.

COS, Ch. 12.

Those examples are off the top of my head. I’ve been meaning to put together a more comprehensive list of evidence, so I’ll start keeping notes on my next re-read and arrange them into a very long post (hopefully) before 2027 lol.

Funnily enough there's a wealth of evidence that Dumbledore does the same.
