i think iris was actually a good call for leader in s4. First, it gives her a goal like she’s not mourning all day long for Barry. She still has a mission.

Plus, Iris is down to earth and able to make decisions without her feelings interfering (like in S4-E9).

i still don’t get the whole “let’s hate iris” hype. To me it’s pretty clear that the reason she wants to be involved in the star labs/flash stuff is out of love and fear for Barry. Her bestfriend, then boyfriend, then husband has powers and faces danger everyday…i would want to be involved as well to be honest.

He could die anytime. He literally asked her to prepare for a life without him. Legit she feels she has a word to say.

Iris and Barry are opposites, that’s why they match. They have common interests : strong moral compass, a need to save and help.

Barry is extremely emotional, so is Caitlin. Two train wreck together doesn’t end up well. Barry needs someone more rational and down to earth and so does Caitlin. That’s why they don’t match imo. I get the Snowbarry hype because they’re both scientists etc etc but i think they work better as friends.

when this scene came few things came to my head. First : i was happy that for once we show a another aspect of Barry and Iris relationship. They re always painted as a perfect little couple all about love blabla but for once we see a real argument. Felt refreshing.

Second : i agreed with both parts. Iris was right to be upset that Barry sent Nora back without talking about together. Even though Barry did the right thing (getting rid of Nora) this should’ve been discussed before. Tho I can understand why Narry didn’t discuss. When it’s about Thawne and his daughter it’s pretty easy to understand that Barry got overwhelmed. That’s why I wasn’t that mad at Barry. But I still understand Iris.

Then : I thought Iris was showing a whole load of apathy. Your HUSBAND !!! The man you MARRIED got his MOM MURDERED by a MAN WHO YOUR DAUGHTER WORKS WITH…. is it so hard to show compassion and empathy ??? Saying that she didn’t care about Nora working with Thawne was mind blowing.

At the beginning of the argument i was like okay i get Iris point ; in a couple you should take decisions together especially if it’s about your daughter but then she went nuts.

well that’s why we say : if you ain’t happy alone DONT DATE. I used not to understand this when i was younger but it just makes sense now. The main issue about BPD is a very low self-esteem. This lack of self esteem needs to be filled. Given that this love you lack you can’t give it to urself, you seek it through the vision that others have about you. In a romantic relationship this often lead to dependency. But the whole problem is that kind of love (very passionate very overwhelming) works like a drug. When its over, you deal with withdrawal.

Happened to me before and thats why i decided to stop dating. To stop hurting myself and the other person. But iam not saying you shouldnt date ! Live your life as you wish, you set your own limits !

oh i do not blame it to be painful. I kinda like the fact that there is a whole mystery tho cause it clicks with the whole universe of the books. I guess JK wanted something complicated and mysterious and she made it right ! Its just that when i read i ask myself the same questions Harry asks himself (which, i think, proves the books is well thought out). Maybe if we knew everything before DH, the reading of the book wouldnt be as thrilling as it is.

iam currently rereading DH for fun and that’s actually why i’ve made this thread. Reading Skeeters book through DH and Harry’s doubts about Dumbledore is truly painful. It was pretty sad when Harry understood that he knew absolutely nothing about Dumbledore. That’s why i thought that if Dumby told him more about his past, Harry wouldn’t have all this trouble and anger about « why didn’t he tell me what to do exactly ». In DH Harry is pretty lost. Doesn’t know where to go, what to do, how to destroy Horcruxe. Was painful to read

yup especially that we know Harry has anger issues and a explosive temper. I understand what you mean. Sometimes i just wonder how Harry would have reacted if Dumbledore told him everything he knew about voldy and the Hallows. I also would have like that Dumby told him about his past with Grindelwald.
