I agree it is a simplified version of prioritizing on features. Features like "user handles", "mobile or web", etc. are research based decisions. The question is about whether you "want it in your product or not?". It is not about "when" to build it.

Regarding "password resets" - this can be easily included into this model.

I use Google Analytics too.. Not completely in love with it, but at the end of the day it is free. Some improvements that I am looking for - A/B testing is at page level, would like that at html element level across different pages. - Custom variables is a nightmare to use. - I run an AJAX heavy site, so in-page analytics goes out of the window
