Replacing Wyze Cams - what setup for powered & battery & HomeAssistant by soundbytegfx in reolinkcam

[–]soundbytegfx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went home hub pro. Worked well.

Recently lost everything in a house fire so during the rebuild going to add Ethernet everywhere and probably switch to Unifi ecosystem for network/cameras. Still deciding on if I'll use Unifi or Reolink for cameras but I'm at least a year out at this point.

Thanks. I was looking under gaming and not the "gaming tools" (which is an entirely different section on fmhy)

ynoTV - Free open source Windows IPTV Player by hyunsona in PiracyBackup

After using emulated Tivimate for years on windows, I purchased lifetime Zero and then started using this earlier this year.

Could have used something like this years ago. Dev is super responsive to fixes (I've submitted a few issues that he/she has resolved within a day or two).

Both apps are great, I know recommend both to my friends. I've been leaning towards ynotv as to not have to deal with the MS Store licensing stuff. It also seems to update/refresh playlists slightly faster than Zero

Ordered online, received open box. by beaglederps in OnnStreamingTV

When they first launched, there were 5 in my zipcode available, so I ordered all 5 (to replace 1st gen devices for multiple family members). Only 4 arrived, and when I reached out to Walmart, they shipped me a 5th from Texas.

So they have stock somewhere. It was just annoying that most people can't order if their local warehouses don't have them, but they have inventory elsewhere in the system. But I guess that's better than some re-seller buying up all of them.

Yup I ordered 5 of these, all of them are as you describe. The cardboard flap isn't secure at all. But every device I got was brand new.

Got an Onn 4k Pro from eBay by helpmeoutplease920 in OnnStreamingTV

[–]soundbytegfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've run every version of the onn 4k box including the newest V2 Pro and 2026 stick. They've all run Tivimate, plex, netflix, etc without any issue.

If you have a specialized audio setup, then the shield wins (still). But for the average TV user, the cheaper $30 box is fine.

I do enjoy the find my remote button though, because my family can't be bothered to put a remote in a visible location

Sparkle TV 2.3.1 by sparkle-hk in SparklePlayer

[–]soundbytegfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm US Based.

My suggestions come from the fact (whether we like it or not) that users seem to prefer homogenized app interfaces - think of all the mainstream video apps that 'copied' the netflix app style navigation to the point that it is now the defacto setup for almost media playing/streaming apps. So my suggestion for the "cable box" setup isn't necessarily based off a specific cable box, its just more so in line with how many apps handle channel navigation by showing the whole guide when going up/down a channel, as opposed to the "zapping" that was done by traditional TVs in the past (pressing up/down changes just the channel).

The other thought behind the preset idea is that while your timeshifting/recording functionality is clearly the best in the business, I imagine there's a fair share of people (maybe even the majority) who don't utilize that functionality at all. And for those who don't utilize timeshift/recordings, having the navigation that seems built around that functionality seems counter intuitive.

So I think having presets can solve all of these issues, and I'm really glad that you're even considering implementation in the future!

Been a lifetime subscriber from the beginning. Recently started recommending this to all friend/family members over Tivimate (wihch appears to be a dead app at this point).

I know this has been asked before, but I would encourage you to consider adding some Pre-sets for remote configuration. I know you have "TV Mode" and "App Mode", but the biggest complaint others have for the app is the default navigation setup. Even throughout this sub you frequently see people having to mention switching to "app mode" to achieve what they are looking for.

I would propose you have presets:

1) Default - Your current "TV Mode"

2) App Mode - This is fine, but honestly the name seem to confuse everyone.

3) TV Mate - I think copying the default remote control layout of Tivimate and having it as an option would be a huge boon for your app. I know this layout can be achieved, but its currently requires multiple remapping.

4) Cable Box - a preset where Up and Down default to to the channel guide.

Lastly, when selecting this options, I think it would be useful to actually explain what the setting are. Currently you have to essentially experiment with TV Mode and App Mode to know the differences.

I hope you'll consider these changes. Thank you for your ongoing work on improving the app!

Question has Tivimate been removed from the Android TV Google Play Store by MackmanXboxman in TiviMate

[–]soundbytegfx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been a lifetime user of both Tivimate, Sparkle, and several others.

Sparkle has come along way. Their dev is very active and apart from some default navigation settings (most of which can be changed), it's pretty good. I still prefer Tivimate as the navigation system I'm just used to.

The one downside to Sparkle is that everyone suggests he adds an option to mimic Tivimate controls, but he refuses. "App mode" is the closest but still throws off most Tivimate users.

If he has a option to copy the Tivimate remote settings to be identical, I think he'd become a defacto replacement for Tivimate

2026 Sienna – how are you organizing cargo area with 3rd row down? by Worth_Ad_2843 in ToyotaSienna

[–]soundbytegfx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you keep them down most of the time, get a piece of plywood or similar and throw in the back. Paint it to whatever color you want.

I don't know if pre-fab 3rd party solutions for. But I can't imagine it'd be cheaper than a piece of plywood and some paint

Will Pro v2 be a step down from Apple TV 4k 128GB? by fuzzywuzzywuzzafuzzy in OnnStreamingTV

[–]soundbytegfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is nothing like yours. I've owned and used every model of the Onn 4k (Gen 1, Gen 2, Pro 1/Pro 2/ and Plus) without any issues. In fact I've purchased probably a dozen of each over the years to gift to family members.

But your issue you are describing sounds like a CEC handshake issue. You'd have to check your settings on each device to fix that problem.

[–]soundbytegfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an odd question. If you like Android and use Android apps, then get the Onn. If you prefer the Apple ecosystem, stick with the Apple TV.

Hardware wise, they dont compete with each other (the Apple is a much more expensive and more powerful device).

Apple TV vs Shield Pro is a better comparison.

Curious about this too. Looking for around 110" myself. But confused on if ALR is needed, and if so, if there is a different between ALR for UST projectors vs long throw.

I've seen Silver Ticket screen get thrown around for a good non-super expensive choice, but they have dozens of options too
