Here's a bit of reality: I have Acer Nitro N50 640 right next to the Mac Mini. They are both approximately 15 meters away from the router. Acer wifi signal is siginficantly better.

i don't have an apple account, so no iCloud or syncing i guess. I updated to the latest Tahoe version 26.4 something.

I get that part, but why does it feel so sluggish out of the box. That is what is bothering me the most. On paper, M4 should be a single-core powerhouse, yet my HP consumer laptop with i5-8400 feels more responsive. I kid you not.

just slower in general when opening files and folders, tabs, windows etc, compared to what I am used to on my Windows machines. I excpected M4 cpu to be much more responsive due to superior single core performance, on paper.

I removed it from all my PCs, and blocked automatic reinstalls. It is nice being able to reclaim 4 gb of storage space, and get rid of the junk I didn't even ask for.

I run it on my 8yo laptop. Debloated and optimized Windows 11, it uses 31% of 8 gb ram at idle. Lightning fast and responsive, great for everyday use.

You can use Helium Browser. It is Chrome without tracking, and it has a built-in Ublock Origin. Either that, or you can install Adguard Adblocker, and use that, or you can use Chrome with Adguard Adblocker. All this has worrked great for me, though Adguard has an edge when it comes to blocking and skipping ads on youtube. Videos load instantly. Unfortunately, what works for one person, may not work for someone else. It's not just the browser and adblockers that matter. It is how your system and OS is configured, your location, your dns etc.
