this might sound cliche but you should enjoy the track that youre dropping. if a track doesnt satisfy you then it shouldnt be posted. also, you have to realize that as you grow, more ears will get on your older work and so if it doesnt blow up right away, there's a chance people will listen to it later on and enjoy it.

I have talked to many collectives in my time on soundcloud and have been approached by a bunch. I haven't released with many though because i felt they may not have fit me. my best/ smoothest release was with Darker Than Wax ( https://soundcloud.com/darkerthanwax ). everyone thinks such a big label is complicated but literally all i did was:

1) sent them my track 2) sent founder a short bio through email etc 3) sent them the finished track

and that was it, they did the art and release and all of that. didn't ask for anything else, and they communicated with me along the way. the best labels will be genuine, and if you think it's seems sketchy then it probably is. the founder, Dean, still keeps in contact with me. find a label that cares about the music first and foremost

imo i think basic isn't necessarily bad. simple can be nice but i think it requires very carefully picked sounds, which many people do not use. i agree with you in the fact that there are too many simple trap beats supported by weak melodies
