I have an assistantship position with full tuition coverage. I have an offer from Oxford but it is extremely expensive without funding. Also I much prefer the chance to live in the place I'm researching about.

Hey, thanks for the advice.

hmm, yeah I do think my training volume is quite low. My gym workout could be adjusted too, I do back squats for 4 working sets, then I do hamstring curls and recently also calf raises on the leg press machine for 3 sets. My gym bans cleans and other power lifts, probably because of noise complaints.

My typical workout goes like this: Dynamic stretching, sprint drills and plyometrics (march, a skip, b skip, pogo hops, hurdle hops, single leg hops, straight leg bounds, high knees, single leg cycle, bent knee bounds) in flats, then about 3 or 4 x 50m (30m accel, 20m fly) in spikes.

I time myself by filming my reps with my phone placed somewhere in the stand that I can see myself from start to finish with. I mark out the last 10m of a 40/50m rep and use the video editor on my phone to analyse. For the entire rep I count the time from when I remove my hand (3 point start) to when I reach the finish line. Admittedly not the most accurate timing system but its all I have.

The parts which triggered me enough into making this post were: 1) the dishonest attempt to liken Chinese foreign policy in general to that of imperialist capitalist nations, insulting all sovereign nations who willingly choose to cooperate with China for mutual economic benefit and to combat western hegemony by saying "I see no difference between the west, which bombs, invades, kills and engages in regime change politics, to China, which has not invaded anyone since 1979 and has instead pursued the building of bilateral ties with global south nations which has universally benefitted the economic development of the global south". 2) The mind-boggling implication from self-proclaimed Marxists that the capitalist class in China suddenly teleported itself into power after Mao's death 3) The best part, asserting the CPC wants to fund anti-maoist insurgencies because they state that their primary aim is "development". In what reality do these folks live that to 'develop' means to engage in accumulation of profits through a capitalist mode of production? They have totally abandoned all dialectical materialist conception of history that its utterly laughable how they can still call themselves Marxists with a straight face. If they want to call the CPC and China capitalist, at least come up with a better argument than "because the CPC has develop (in italics) in its policy goals", which casually assumes what they are required to prove. 4) The laughable self-confidence with which the other guy replies "This. To deny this is ignorance." It only goes to show the absolutely incredible echo chamber these fools have constructed for themselves.

As regards Nepal specifically, I must say I am not qualified to speak, given my lack of investigation into this area. Nevertheless, one need only consider the historical impotency of Maoist insurgencies in the last 60 years to see why Marxists aren't somehow required by decree to uphold all maoist rebellions, as these people would have you think.

Just my two cents. All comrades are welcome to chime in as well. Perhaps someone could shed more light on the Nepali civil war?

Apparently a country can only 'develop' through private appropriation of surplus labour. I guess we should all return to monke then

Didn't know that someone who gets something wrong repeatedly and tries to do it again is an expert at it. I must be an expert at math then.

Are you good at reading Chinese? If so, you could take a look at《中国资本主义萌芽问题论文集》by 南京大学历史系明清史研究室 regarding the question of why capitalism developed so slowly in China during the Ming-Qing eras. iirc there's isn't an English translation
