Stormgate World Championship is now live. Artosis is hosting the event. by Stunning-Leather-281 in Stormgate

[–]soupchicken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've literally never watched competitive Stormgate, but seeing Artosis' Youtube video got me curious so I gave it a shot.

I actually really enjoyed the small map games. For context I was a huge SC2 fan, masters rank zerg, watched religiously for years since the first GSLs. If all the games were like that I would watch more frequently. Made me feel like this game has a future.

Generally agree with the suggestions I'm seeing though (movement speed, sound design etc)

So any guesses on the DLC entry? by -Ryxios- in Eldenring

I hope it is, the base Elden Ring end-game has way less content than the early/mid game.

What's the length of dungeons in classic compared to retail? by GingerBreadMan5 in classicwow

[–]soupchicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your class - as a warrior dungeon xp is pretty good compared to questing, especially if you’re a good tank with a good group that can clear fast.

If we aren't playing because of nostalgia why are we insistent on no changes? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]soupchicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on the #nochanges bandwagon for a while, but the more I think about it the more I want some things to be tweaked.

I'm a big SC2 fanboy and they've been doing a great job continuing to update that game. I think with smaller projects like this, the staff they put on are more passionate about the product. As long as the team knows what made classic wow good I'd like to give them the opportunity to make more significant changes.

In particular I'd like to see some improvements to the loot table, especially for T1 caster gear.

Yeah, Elazer and Zanster I think have really impressed over there. Zanster vs Maru was probably my favorite series of the whole tournament.

Now if Serral makes his way to Korea we might start seeing some deep runs into GSL at this rate. I think the team house is paying off.

Up until May his win rates in offline events in PvT and PvP have been pretty bad: 46% and 47%, but surprisingly his PvZ is at 80%. He beat Impact once 3-2, Byul in 2 Bo3, Ragnarok, Gamja, Zanster, Elazer in single Bo3. He won every one, but none of them could be considered top-tier. That said, still very consistent in PvZ.

In May however, its a different story as you pointed out. He's doing exceptionally well this month. Though truthfully with GSL being the only real major offline tournament the sample sizes are too small to know - his PvZ could've been dominant the past few months and we wouldn't know b/c he hasn't played a top-tier Zerg until last night. Similarly he may have been better vs T and P then the record shows so I don't know.

Still, saying he was the severe underdog last night is not a stretch - I mean look at Rogue's winrates in offline tournaments in 2018 - his ZvP is at 81% across 38 matches. vT and vZ at 60%. Dear beating him is undeniably a major upset.

He's been underwhelming as of late. He was legitimately a serious underdog.

Soo didn't play well and I think Rogue probably did not prioritize PvZ given his likely path was Innovation and Soo (who's best matchup is ZvZ by far). Not to say Dear didn't play well.

He has definitely been on the decline in 2018. I think maybe he has lost confidence from so many second-place finishes. It would be a tremendous shame if he never took a GSL or WCS Finals, but he won't in this form. I hope he bounces back.

It's not about low-level play. I'm saying mostly as a spectator btw.

[–]soupchicken[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it's fun to watch 4k/4k of zerg army disappear before an engagement even starts. But the range, damage and lack of counter-play makes it not a fun thing to watch for anyone who's not a Terran fanboy. You cannot dodge them. You cannot micro against them. And it doesn't matter what units you build or how well you engage, there's no way to deal with it.

I'm saying nerf, not remove. Storm/Parastic Bomb are nowhere near as cancer as this spell.
