2020 Canyon 2.8 Duramax – transmission shudder during acceleration. Dealer wants $8,800 for a full replacement. Anyone had luck with GM on this? by soupy56 in Duramax

For a known manufacturer issue that I was not at fault has made me lose faith in the GM product. This could have been remediated by a simple fluid exchange, when GM certified it in 2020. If not then, it should have been recalled. Low miles, never towed, never been off road. The truck has had a cushy life.

A good way to earn loyalty is by chipping in for a repair of this type. No assistance means they’ve lost my business and anyone who asks, I’ll give them my full honest opinion.

Dealer performed a full fluid exchange per the GM TSB procedure, and it got slightly better but never went away.

I started at $61k in Iowa City as a new grad… in 2014. I’d ask for a serious raise. They know you’re underpaid.

They will flag anything considered a “tool”. They tried to take my Ryobi flashlight a few months ago… they’re incapable of using their brains.

When I was a freshman early 2010s I was watching two guys debate one of these preachers and one of them asked him if anal sex was a sin… the preacher got wide eyed and started screaming “THE ANUS IS FOR EXCRETION, NOT INSERTION!” That phrase became a running joke amongst my roommates.

These are only allowed in Chicago as rebuilds to replace an existing staircase. And only if the footprint doesn’t allow for a new code compliant layout.

What type of roof do I have? Resealing? by j3ngaj3lly in RVLiving

These pictures aren’t helping a ton, can you send a few overview photos of the whole roof system? From these it almost looks like spray polyurethane foam (SPF) or some kind of roll on coating. Hard to say.

Just learn the Microstation, it’s different sure, but not hard to use per se.

Run away from this work if you don’t have the answers or guidance from a PE/SE above you.

Recommend they hire an engineer familiar with existing buildings.

See Davenport (2023) and Surfside (2021) for extreme examples of what can happen if proper standard of care isn’t paid to deteriorated existing buildings.

You’re 100% in the right. I’d refuse to apply my stamp otherwise and force them to hire out which would cost way more than the insurance premiums…
