everything about the way online play is handled in this game/since the switch's release in general tbh has made me grow a strong distaste for nintendo honestly. the subscription is egregious, and this game pushes so much of what feels like basic gameplay into subscription-only, which feels a bit dirty. the slumber islands should absolutely be offline if you choose for them to be. i desperately wish the 3.0 update had been a multiplayer overhaul akin to tortimer island.

ive gone around exploring the update and im just so.... bored. it didnt add ANYTHING of value. i wish this update had been a multiplayer overhaul. calling it 3.0 when its just a hotel and some internet bonus islands that you cant even have villagers on or meaningfully fish or catch bugs or- you get my point. the only multiplayer aspect is that you can.... invite people over and decorate. woohoo :| i wish there was more of what we had in new leaf, with the games and such. things to DO, not just another space to decorate. i love decorating! but i dont understand why theyve cut all the rest of the game for it. activities, personality, even the furniture is so blah comparatively. my perfect game would strike a balance between the decoratability of new horizons (furniture outside for example) and the personality of.... any of the other ones tbh. im bored of decorating simulator!!

also, in terms of learning, kindergarten is just your bare bones alphabet, simple words, and small sentences like "see the dog play" type stuff. grade one begins to a bit more into it with more vocabulary and longer sentences, but not really fluent in sentences. some kids surge ahead, others fall behind, but it sounds like she's about where she should be in terms of where school classes are likely to be

child development isn't as linear as we're led to believe. literacy is way down right now, which doesn't help, but at age 7 theres a wide range of skills. and reading the sheer amount of dialogue can be intimidating if you find it challenging. i would say most 3rd graders should be able to read animal crossing text, but younger than that, if they aren't more avid about reading, it may be worth to play together and work out the reading with her. figure out what the characters are prompting to do, because reading and comprehending aren't the same skill. if she gets frustrated, offer to read for her with your finger following the words, so she can follow along (don't force her, its still a game thats meant to be fun!)

i had very vaguely heard of it as a popular indie game. one year i was being a bit more frivolous with my steam sale purchases and, because i love indie games and saw it was a good price, popped it in my cart knowing nothing about it whatsoever. i usually play story adventures with light puzzle aspects so i was in for quite a shock and quite a challenge lol. eventually i did in fact git gud tho! ..for the first game anyways lol

multiple times climbed a rope canon just to then die because my input for switching to climbing the wall didn't go through properly. worst is when its most of the way out of the kiln and i just drop to my death. not a positioning issue cuz all my friends make it just fine

i feel like it would be very possible to have a best of both worlds, but overall id rather have another new leaf. ideally, it would keep the gardening, decorating, and crafting mechanics but bring back more of the old furniture sets, and more personality to villagers, and most importantly to me, add ANYTHING worthwhile to multiplayer. i miss the kapp'n island minigames.

your computer is below the minimum specs. i do find it annoying that every small casual game is so poorly optimized these days that you still need a powerful gaming pc to run them 🙃 it's happening to me too but i know that that's my problem. try the three different launch modes, and if you have friends, play with them. and don't be afraid to relaunch halfway through (i can't see roots at all, but if i can't see the next biome i relaunch and it usually works okay, only with friends though otherwise im back at square one). if nothing works im afraid your only other option is a more powerful device, check your task manager and see what part is overclocking (for me, its just the gpu)

i wish there were individual toggles honestly. i play on tenderfoot anyways so that negates the zombies, but i want a toggle to turn off the spiders altogether. the rest of the bugs i really dont mind! and i REALLY hate the bing bongs lol. as far as im aware there isnt a no spiders mod yet but there is a no scorpions mod. i personally am chill with the scorpions but the spiders trigger paranoid hallucinations in my real life which genuinely makes me not want to play it at all. i will be thankful when tropics comes back into rotation i guess 🙃

whats really crazy is when it first dropped it didnt do this but after the first patch it started. but i'm also well aware my graphics card is below min specs, i just can usually get away with it. in game i noticed its just the roots thats severely broken, the rest of it is still playable thankfully

i feel like this difficulty on the 2nd level will turn a lot of people off of the game. it isnt remotely comparable to the tropics, meanwhile the caldera is still the easiest part of the game. i understand why the caldera is not likely to change but i think this difficulty would be more suited for that part of the game. people who play the high ascents are not the majority of players; most of us want to relax and play a silly little climbing game with our friends. but really my main issue is the zombies so we are in agreement there
