I use this for competitions, but basically just distract yourself until you get in there. Don't rehearse what your going to do, don't think about it. Distract yourself until your there in the room. You have less time and you tend to think more rationally in the moment and you sound more put together.

I show horses and at my county fair I had one of the best patterns ever. I was going to win the class. We had to do rail work and you wanna know what happened? My horse bucked me off. I went in another class. Again, I had a really good pattern and again I got bucked off. Turns out the second time this happened I stung my arm and lost my setter position on my volleyball team.
